  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella “Ciliegine” cherry tomato size, one container
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp adobo sauce from can of chipotle peppers (add more if you like it spicy)
  • 1/2 cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup fresh grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup marinara or other pasta sauce, warmed

Instructions

Yum, they look very tasty! We don’t get the super bowl here in Australia, in fact, we hear more about the adds, than the actual game! But I do like the idea of all the yummy super bowl food!

We love fried mozzarella!! Sometimes ours ooze out even if we have frozen them first. Any suggestions? Anyway, thanks for all the recipes, I left you some awards on my blog.

I am from the Midwest where “Cheese Balls” – with cheddar cheese inside – are very popular, but once I moved down South, no one knew what I was talking about! These reminded me of Cheese Balls and look sooooo good!

  14. That Girl

These are even better than mozzarella sticks, because you can put the whole thing in your mouth and not have to deal with the dreaded – melty cheese connecting the piece in your mouth to the piece in your hand!

I loved these…I can’t imagine how good the cajun ones would be!!! Miss you you little booger!!

  16. Allie

I love making these, but never thought about the little balls instead of cutting stick size. These are much easier to pop in your mouth!

Growing up there was a restaurant in my town that did these but with cheddar cheese, I loved them!!! Your recipe looks so good, perfect bite-sized goodness!! Can’t wait to try them!
