Adorable Children’s Book Giveaway! 3 Winners!
Hey everyone, hope you all had a great weekend. Check out this fun, hot off the press giveaway for the kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews etc.. in your life. Chronicle Books is offering 3 Picky Palate readers a copy of Tony Gemignani’s newest children’s book, Tony and the Pizza Champions. Here’s a little info on the book…

Here’s how to enter: Leave a comment and tell all of us your favorite kind of pizza AND favorite pizza place. Before we moved, our favorite place to get pizza was from Patsy Grimaldi’s. My favorite was their pepperoni, fresh tomatoes and basil. YUM!

TONY’S PIZZA SAUCE
Recipe courtesy of Tony Gemignani, author of Tony and the Pizza Champions from Chronicle Books
1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes with juice
2 cans (6 ounces each) tomato paste
1 teaspoon dried oregano
2 teaspoons salt, or 2 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
2 tablespoons sugar
1 basil leaf
1. In a medium bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, salt, and sugar.
Mix well, and then add the basil leaf.
2. Use the sauce immediately, or store it in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
You can also freeze it for up to 2 months. Let it warm to room temperature before using.
Makes enough sauce for at least five pizzas

My ALL time favorite place would be BJ’s in So. California. Home of the deep dish pizza. Great little place to try when you are visiting the beach. I love BBQ chicken, but the family favorite would have to be Hawaiian.
I love Spinach Alfredo Pizza. Since I usually make pizza at home we rarely eat pizza anywhere else. When we do, our favorite is a local place called Grande Pizza. You can buy it by the pie or by the slice.
oh my gosh. pizza is my passion. no health kick or diet can keep me from indulging in a slice, or 5 of delicious pizza. i don’t discriminate in any way shape or form. thin or thick, stuffed or topped, home-made or delivery. i truly LOVE pizza. it makes me happy, inside and out. little ceasers $5 is a quick fix, but if i’m going all out, le grande orange, or oreagon’s for their thin crust either white or wheat, with any imaginable topping. my mouth is watering, and it’s 8am. it’s wrong that pizza’s not served for breakfast. my favorite 3 toppings, which you can order anywhere is pepperoni, tomato and onion. they taste so well together. i can’t wait to try the sauce recipie!

I always love a homemade pizza but if I’m going to eat out I love Oregano’s for a nice sit down restaurant or Papa Johns for take-out. I really do love all kinds of pizza so I don’t necessarily have a favorite kind.
I love The Pie in Utah, pepperoni and black olives with fresh tomatoe sliced and parmesan on top! YUM!
Picasso’s pizza in Tempe, AZ. My favorite is the canadian bacon and pineapple with jalepeno.
Two local pizza places are my favorites… Magpies and Mama’s Pizzs. Both are fantastic! I love their pizzas with everything, but the kids say no, so usually we just get a sausage/olive combo.
How fun to see this book featured. We actually get to go to Tony’s restaurant, Pyzano’s, since it’s in our town! I would say my favorite pizza is pepperoni with cheese. Occasionally I like some mushrooms and olives mixed in.
Beach Cities Pizza in Dana Point Harbor, CA. Their Thai Chicken Pizza makes me weep for joy.
I grew up on the East Coast In NJ. So I grew up with Lots of really good pizza joints. My fav though would have to be a really good slice of Chicken Parm pizza. It’s to die for From Oakland Pizza. Oh I want some so bad right now to bad I live in AZ now

What a fun giveaway! I love pizza. My favorite pizza place is probably San Francisco Sourdough pizza. My favorite kind of pizza is a toss up between BBQ Chicken Pizza and Grilled Garden Veggie Pizza. Looks like a real cute book!
Mmmm..yyeess…Grimaldi’s IS delicioso! I think you pretty much can’t go wrong with any pizza.
But, MY fav, is my homemade whole wheat garlic crust with a smidge of slow simmered tomato sauce, cheese (REAL mozzarella, please!), fresh, thinly sliced tomatoes, just picked from the yard, hand torn basil, and a blitz of shaved parmesan. Man, my mouth is watering just thinking about it!
My favorite pizza has always been a classic Hawaiian, and honestly, my favorite pizza joint is my bbq! Love homemade grilled pizza.

Yumm Pizza! My favorite is chicken and green peppers with alfredo sauce. Favorite place I have ever had pizza was a tiny little place on Orcas Island in Washington. But locally we love Papa Johns!

My favorite pizza is whole wheat THIN crust piled with veggies (no onions!). I like homemade the best. Haven’t been to too many GREAT places. Used to really love “Za Hut”.
I love the tourist from Pier 49 Pizza in Utah. It has SEVEN different cheeses plus a white sauce. I prefer white sauce.
Our favorite pizza place right now is called Fratelli’s. My favorite pizza there is a BBQ Chicken, yummy sauce, bacon, onions, cilantro, and monterey jack cheese and they have the best crust.
Best pizza? Oregano’s pizza marguerita. Fresh basil, mozzarella, and simple flavors. Yum!

My favorite is homemade pizza with a whole wheat crust, sundried tomato pesto sauce, artichokes, mushrooms, onions, bell pepper, banana peppers, sliced tomatoes, and roasted red pepper. Yum!

Fridays are “Pizza and a Movie Night” at our house. Sometimes we make them ourselves (pesto chicken and spinach, bbq, taco pizza, you name it.) Sometimes we even use cookie cutters to make crazy shaped pizza and everyone makes their own. My favorite pizza place lately is Papa Murphy’s Take and Bake. I love their thin crust chicken, bacon, spinach and articoke heart pizza with a garlic sauce. YUMMY!
We love the Pizza Place for their pizza, but mostly their yummy breadsticks and their secret recipe ranch dip! YUMMY!!!
My favorite pizza is veggie pizza and the best pizza place is Pizza Plus in Smithfield Utah.
The best pizza I’ve ever had was at Giordano’s in Chicago. A.MA.ZING! My favorite is ALWAYS Hawaiian. Oh my goodness, though…one slice is a meal and a half! SO delicious on so many levels!

I love this new place in Logan, UT called Firehouse Pizza. They have an amazing Roasted Chicken Pizza, but the Roasted Chicken Pasta is even better! My 2-year old son LOVES pizza and would be wild about this book!
I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes in November. One of the things they said I could not have was pizza. I dealt well with not eating chocolate or bagels, but suffered from the lack of PIZZA! We have had pizza twice a week since I gave birth in January!! My favorite place to go is Papa Murphys. I LOVE their Herb Chicken Mediterranean deLITE! Yummo!!
I love pizza! Buffalo sure knows how to do pizza! Lanovas is the best to order pizza from- they even ship it any where in the US! I am a fan of white pizza! White sauce, with broccoli, cheese, onions! Yummmmm!
I’m a New Mexican girl and love pepperoni and green chili….oh so good! Especially when it is from Dions (THE BEST!!!)
I love anything veggie…I really enjoy Mediterranean themed pizzas, but Papa John’s veggie and Pizza Hut thin crust veggie are also delicious. My favorite pizza place though…well I have two…Eagle Harbor Inn in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Barley’s in Knoxville, TN.

I always get ham and pineapple, boring but sometimes the classics are the best. We have been in love with Johhny Bruscoes lately. They have great crust and cheese.
Super fun giveaway, as usual! My favorite pizza place is called Pizzacato, here in Vancouver, WA. They serve a pizza with artichokes, tomatoes, and cheese that is to die for.
I’m not sure there’s a type of pizza I don’t like, but my very favorite is topped with fresh tomato slices, pineapple and ham. My favorite pizza place is Lombardi’s in NYC.
My favorite pizza place is actually my daughter’s kitchen (see comment from AZMarianos above). The homemade pie just can’t be beat!

Favorite pizza? It would be a tie between old school Hawaiian and the newer BBQ Chicken! I love pizza at California Pizza Kitchen and our local Plumberry’s!! Yum! Yum! The book would be loved not only by my children, but my students (all 19 in my 3rd grade classroom!)
I love a simple pizza of pepperoni and mushrooms. I also like to frequent Mom and Pop restaurants so the place for me currently is Padula’s Pizza.
We love fresh ingredients so our favorite tends to be margarita pizza!! Our favorite place is estes or setebellos in SLC.
My favorite is simply a mushroom/pepperoni from our local pizza place “OIP” It’s good stuff!
