She made a bunch of stuff… Least favorites had to be meat sandwiches (especially turkey) with cheese and mayo, it gets stuck to the roof of your mouth… ew. Favorite? Hmmm… Hard to decide. I loved it when I got gazpacho in a thermos, and I also loved leftover enchiladas. In lower grade school, my mom would pack me a little note on a napkin, something just for me, never to be shared with friends or classmates. I always loved that little note.

My brother and sisters ate in the cafeteria. But if we wanted to bring our own lunch for the next day we would have to pack it ourselces. More or less we would forget it in the fridge. But I do remember going with mom to the store and getting things for my lunch box that I would pack. There is plenty of items that are just for the lunch box. We loved those!!

My mom would make the sandwich and then I was on my own to pack the rest. I always ran late so it was an automatic bag of chips and juice box in addition to the mom-made peanut butter and jelly. It sounds boring but it was definitely better than the cafeteria options!

My very favorite thing was always fluffer-nutters. Most of the people I know didn’t even know what they were but to bite into fresh white bread with peanut butter and marshmallow cream in the middle of a tough school day – nothing was better than that.

Strawberry cream cheese sandwiches, Bugles (which I got into trouble for putting them onto my fingertips like witch fingernails , Giggles cookies, Deviled Ham, Spaghettio’s and ravioli in a thermos, Mom’s vegetable soup in the thermos, and strawberries with a tiny bag of sugar for dipping.

Hey Jenny!
It’s been a while but I was going to get a quick dinner recipe from you tonight and I saw this GREAT drawing! I DO remember my mom packing my lunch and I have to admit I got pretty sick of the same old pb & j.. I am now a mom that has 2 of my 4 kids in school. I am always trying to think of a good healthy, fun lunch for my kids. I honestly loose sleep over “what to make for lunch” since my kids go to a charter school I don’t ever have the lazy option to let them “buy” lunch. but I love making my kids lunch. I would love to try these products, hopefully my kids would love them as much as you do. what an awesome healthy alternative! We miss you here in AZ!!!

I don’t remember any particular lunch but I do remember the metal lunchbox that started the school all clean and shiny and by Christmas is was getting pretty nasty. Sure glad when we started using brown paper bags.
