Crisco is inviting home cooks to submit their favorite recipes at GetInspired.com in the Crisco Mediterranean Inspirations Recipe and Essay Contest for the chance to win a trip for two to Italy.  Recipes should include one of the three Crisco Olive Oil varieties:  Crisco 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Crisco Pure Olive Oil or Crisco Light Olive oil plus two ingredients commonly used in Mediterranean-style cooking, including tomatoes, garlic, pasta, yogurt, legumes, fresh herbs, lentils or cheese.

    wow what a great opportunity! Being Italian, my favorite meal is pasta with my grandmother’s homemade pesto. I live over 2000 miles from her so when I get to see her she always makes it for me and sends me home with a little jar to tide me over till I can come back again!

    This may seem odd for a favorite “meal,” but my favorite is olive oil, red wine vinegar, feta cheese and herbs/spices on a plate and some good dipping bread. I can literally eat that for dinner, and do quite often. I usually supplement it with some other Italian dish, but somehow always fill up on the appetizer.
