I am having so much fun giving you guys the stories behind the recipes in my cookbook. This recipe is particularly special to me because it is my Dad’s aka Teedo’s Famous Salsa.
This recipe reminds me of the fun Sunday dinners we would have at my Mom’s every week when we lived in Arizona. We requested this salsa at every family gathering, even if it didn’t go with what my mom is serving, lol! That is one thing I miss most about not living in AZ, our fun food fests.
My Dad is the best. He is so kind and loving.
Here’s my sweet Dad and I. I’ve called him Teedo since High School. I had a weird thing about having Nicknames for everyone I knew and Teedo is what I decided to call my Dad, lol! Teedo drives up to CA to visit us every chance he can to spend time with us. He is the best. We miss seeing him every week.
My Dad can whip up his salsa like nobody’s business. It’s simple to prepare and tastes better than any restaurant salsa that I’ve ever had. His secret ingredient is a couple of fresh avocados mixed right in the food processor. It’s basically heaven in a bowl.
This is another recipe in my cookbook that is worth the buy just for this recipe. You’ll use it over and over again.
Thanks to my sweet Dad for creating such a gem. Love you Teedo!
xoxo

Have a wonderful day!
I couldn’t refrain from commenting. Very well written!
Made this salsa today and it is delicious! To cut down on extra juice, I drained the cans of tomatoes before putting in the food processor.
I absolutely love everything about your blog! I came across your salsa, and it looks delicious!
Jenny,
I live in the Raleigh area. I have tried MULTIPLE book stores, and none have your book. I went to Barnes and Noble today, and the sales woman said they don’t carry it. Books a Million said they “had never heard of it”, Borders said they didn’t have it…where is your book sold in stores? I’d prefer not to order online if possible. In my area, do you know of any stores that have it? I’ve also looked myself (as opposed to asking sales people) in each store and it is no where to be found. I’d love to have it as an early Christmas present. 🙂
Thanks!

Hi Chelsea,
I only know what my publishing team tells me, from what I have heard, most Barnes and Noble Bookstores carry it in their stores. Other than that, it is available online at all of those places you listed plus Amazon. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Hi Jenny,
I checked on Barnes and Noble’s site and all stores within 50 miles of Raleigh don’t have it in stock. 🙁 Guess I’m ordering it on Amazon!
Thanks for the response!

I love all the chunky stuff in there!
I was hoping to make the salsa after reading your comments but I cannot find a link to it. Could you please help me?
Thank you
you have to buy the cookbook to get the recipe.
Hi Ruth, This post is to tell the story behind the salsa recipe in my cookbook 🙂 Thanks.
Just go to Amazon.com and click the photo link on the left to look inside the book. The recipe is a few pages down.
avocados…that’s genius!
I love that story 🙂 So cute! And that salsa really looks to die for!
Just got the book from amazon, delivered yesterday! The recipes look so good and the photography is beautiful! I even read some of the recipes to my 2 month old. He seemed excited about them as well! 🙂
It’s a nice story, it’s not only delicious it’s also full of fun memories.
I love the picture of you and your Dad and this salsa looks to die for. Thanks for sharing your back stories with us.
Aww… this is adorable!
What a cute story! I’m totally a nickname person, too 🙂
I just bought it on kindle. It looks great!
That’s my secret ingredient, too.
I went through the same phase when I was younger- although I think my dad got of lightly in only being given the nickname “Pops” (although he says it makes him feel old before his time!). While this salsa looks seriously yummy, it’s the nachs that really caught my eye! Would you share how you make yours? I just ordered a copy of your cookbook and I’m so excited for it to arrive! Did you know you’re almost sold out on the UK version of Amazon?! Congratulations!
Yuuuuum! The salsa, not you and your dad. Well, I mean, you’re yummy too, but in a different way.
I’m going to stop talking now.
Aww, you dad sounds amazing! I love being able to pass along family recipes!
That’s a great shot of you and your dad and I love his nickname 🙂
