Salted Chocolate Chip Cookies

I have a thing with making “recipes for one,” they are so fun when you really just feel like making yourself a darn cookie or even when you need to perk up a friends’ day. Place the cookie in a cellophane bag, wrap in a bow and your good to go! All you need are a few staple pantry ingredients, one bowl and a saucepan to brown some butter.

Here’s the process of browning butter. Please note, you only need 2 tablespoons for this recipe! This is just a visual 🙂  2 tablespoons only take about 3 minutes to brown, it happens very quick.

How To Brown Butter

  1. Place butter into a small saucepan over medium heat. Swirl and cook butter until browned, takes 3-5 minutes. Once you see brown bits on the bottom of the saucepan, butter is browned. It will be a golden brown color. Remove from heat. Make sure to let the butter cool for 5 minutes before adding to other ingredients.

How To Make Salted Chocolate Chip Cookies

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. and line a baking sheet with a silpat liner or parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, stir together the sugars and browned butter. Stir in the egg, vanilla, flour, baking soda, salt and cornstarch. Stir in the chocolate chips then transfer dough to prepared baking sheet. Press evenly into a round then sprinkle with salt if desired. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown. Let cool on cookie sheet for 10 minutes before transferring to cooling rack. Serve and enjoy!

I have made this cookie so many times and it is my absolute favorite sometimes they come out perfect and sometimes they come out like a piece a cake and I don’t know what I’ve done wrong do you have any suggestions

Just came out of the oven. This cookie is ridiculously huge. It is the size of a dinner plate. I cannot believe the size of this cookie. To suggest this is a single serving is to kick Michelle Obama and her anti obesity campaign right in the balls. It is a small cake. Even worse, it’s quite tasty. You should be punished for this recipe.

    Hello!

I made the brown butter salted chocolate cookie for one yesterday (actually I doubled it), and it was delicious! However, you left out the vanilla measurement. It says to add vanilla in the instructions, but vanilla is not in the ingredients list. I winged it but I’d rather have the exact measurement.

    Thank you!

Mine came out more like a chocolate chip muffin/bread texture but was still SCRUMPTIOUS!!! I LOVE browned butter and chocolate w/ salt….didn’t add vanilla bc it didn’t have the quantity and all I had was dark choc chip….soo gd and could be shared;)

Made this for my little girl’s after school snack today. So yummy and she loved having a big cookie waiting for her! I just added a splash of vanilla though….didn’t see on your ingredient list on how much you used. Mine was super gooey too. So I ended up adding a few more TBSP of flour to get a good cookie dough texture. Other than that, very delicious and made 3 big cookies from it. Thanks for sharing your recipes!

I tried this and the texture was off…didn’t have a cookie texture. Not sure what I did wrong. Oh well, husband didn’t seem to mind 🙂
