It’s another chit chat day! Happy Friday to you!
This past weekend, my sister came for a visit from AZ and the 2 of us stayed in Huntington Beach for a fun-filled 2 days. I felt like I was dreaming, we had the best time shopping, eating and lounging! This cookie was part of our dessert party on the beach
There’s a new Bruxie opened in Huntington Beach. My sister and I shared the Bacon, Cheddar and Egg Waffle Sandwich. If you haven’t tried Bruxie, make sure you check it out when visiting Southern California. See my full review of some of their best waffle sandwiches HERE.
I have been in love with a (new to me) online boutique called Catch Bliss Boutique. Shannon is amazing to order from and has gorgeous affordable merchandise for sale. Make sure you check out all of her goodies. I have the black and white dress and could not be happier with it! Loving the Navy Boyfriend Maxi too!
I have been LOVING Philosophy’s Sweet Creamy Frosting body lotion. Talk about smelling sweet like frosting. I highly recommend it. Voluspa’s Santiago Huckleberry candle is my new favorite right now. Smells like fresh blueberry pie throughout the entire house. They sell these and other scents at Anthropologie.
I have recently discovered DoTerra oils! Have I been living under a rock or what? I am so excited about these for my family. Does anyone use these? I’d love to hear your stories and any favorites you have.
I was not a believer until this past weekend. Saturday night I was out with my sister and by the end of the night, my nose was running and I felt a major head cold coming on. My sister pulls out her little purse kit and said, trust me these oils will totally help you. I figured I had nothing to lose, so I let her work her magic. She put a couple drops of “On Guard” under my tongue then I washed it down with water. Not even kidding, within 2 hours it was as if my head cold was about gone. I did a couple more drops before bed and when I woke up, I felt great. I could not believe it. If you haven’t heard about these oils, they are totally worth checking out, see the site HERE. I signed up as a consultant so that I could get discounted oils. I am their newest fan! I am starting with the Physicians Kit which is what is pictured above. Can’t wait to learn about all of these!
My friend Camilla Saulsbury has a new cookbook out called Power Hungry, The Ultimate Energy Bar Cookbook. Camilla is such a talented cook and blogger. I’ve had the privilege of knowing Camilla for years. We have competed in numerous cooking competitions together many years ago. Make sure you check out Camilla’s new book!

Oh my goodness, last Saturday night we went to one of my favorite restaurants in Orange County called the Playground. They change their menu daily and the chef is unbelievably talented. Every single thing we ordered was a dream These are just a few. Salivating just thinking about it!
My favorite time of year at Bath and Body Works! Pumpkin Cupcake soap, yippee!!

Can I just say that there is no way that my Pax is a year old already. How does 365 days go by in the blink of an eye?! One year ago today I was sobbing endlessly praying Pax would get to come home from the NICCU. If you haven’t read what happened when Pax was born, you can do so HERE.
There isn’t a day that goes by that I am grateful to have this little boy in our home!! Love you Pax, now slow down the growing up ok?

Pax got to meet Cinderella last week at Ariel’s Grotto, a fun lunch spot in Disney’s California Adventure. His face was so funny meeting the princesses, he was not amused…at all, lol! Another shot of my boys and I playing at Disney over the summer. Hope they always remember our Disney adventures
This is week two of our fitness challenge. If you haven’t read about what we’re doing, you can click HERE. Check out these healthy chicken veggie bowls my husband and I prepared so we have lunches to grab that are totally ready eat. It’s been so great.
I thought I’d leave you with Pax enjoying his first ever birthday cake. He entertained us all as he enjoyed his first real taste of sugar, lol! Go get em’ Pax!
Welcome to another edition of my chit chat page, just a little about what we’ve been up to and things I’m loving right now
How fast has summer gone by? Some of your kids have already started school. We’ve got a few more weeks. Looking forward to our school year routine….but not the lunch making everyday, lol!
Took the family to San Diego a couple weeks ago and had the best time bike riding down the beaches. So pretty in Mission/Pacific Beach area. Nice to have some good family time. We went to some amazing restaurants, they’ll be featured on Picky Palate soon!
Completely dying over Hash House a go go’s pancakes! They were enormous and this Strawberry Frosted Flake Pancake did not disappoint. It’s a must visit when you are in San Diego.
One of my good friends, Jenna started a new blog with her 3 sisters called Show up for Life. They are also on Instagram HERE. They are inspiring and uplifting, be sure to check it out! Below is a little about them.
“We are 4 sisters and we have a deep desire to assist and help others in finding hope and living a life full of the love and joy they deserve. We are not experts or Dr.’s, but we have found through our years of learning, experience, and research; tips and exercises that have been successful for us. We will be sharing here what we have learned and have high hopes that it will be beneficial for anyone who has ever experienced those moments in life that may seem hopeless.
This blog will be a place for the hopeless to find hope. For the fearful to find their courage. A place to find spiritual, mental, physical health. A place of love. A place where we will share stories, inspiration, and insight. This is a place of joy and happiness. A place of safety and security. A place that we hope all who come will be enlightened and lifted.”
I might be crazy, but I am starting a very small jewelry store on Instagram that I am calling Picky’s Box. I will be selling very affordable designer inspired pieces that I hand pick from various vendors. Be sure to follow me on Instagram for more pictures and information.
We’ve been having so much fun at Disneyland this summer. I take the boys one on one in the evenings and we stay until closing. Get a load of that Ghirardelli caramel filled chocolate. Swoon!!

So….Marc Jacobs has a new makeup line. Let’s just say it’s fabulous! This lipstick and gloss I couldn’t resist has been a new favorite. Looking forward to trying more of his line.
Last weekend, we walked the kids up to RiteAid and somehow all came out with giant Thrifty’s ice cream cones. I chose the chocolate malted crunch of course
Earlier this week I posted this picture on Instagram and asked, “What’s your tips for not crying while cutting onions?” There are over 100 great tips if you are curious. Check out the comments HERE.
If I had $400 to blow, I would be blowing it on these new Kate Spade ankle boots. I did the unthinkable and tried them on this week in their store. Bad idea because I can’t stop thinking about them, lol! Aren’t they adorable?
My sweet little Pax has been so “on the go” the last couple months crawling and starting to experiment standing/balancing that he hasn’t been much of a cuddler. A couple days ago, he stopped what he was doing, climbed up and laid his little head on my shoulder. Sweetest thing ever. I had to capture the moment! Love this little boy so much!
Happy Friday, have a wonderful weekend!
Chit chat today Hope everyone has been enjoying summer!
Summer break has been so much fun with the boys. I have been taking them to Disneyland just one on one. Talk about the memories we’ve created. They keep asking when we can do it again. I look forward to these moments with the boys.
We had the privilege of sampling a couple of boxes of Nature Box. I knew we were going to receive healthy snacks but I didn’t know how amazing they would all be! We can not get enough of their snacks. You get a box delivered right to your door once a month. Be sure to check out their website and see if it’s a good fit for your family. Stay tuned for a recipe and giveaway with Nature Box in early August.
The OC Fair is on! We took the boys and sampled all of the crazy food there was to offer, lol! See our full review of the OC Fair HERE.
Had such a great time in Virginia last week for a close look at the Sabra Factory. Saw bunnies in the clouds, ate pounds of Sabra hummus, painted my own hummus and pita bowl, toured the factory, learned about new spices and had amazing ice cream It was a great couple days.
Be still my heart. Stella and Dot’s new Fall line is so stunning. The colors, the sparkles….have got to have it! There are dozens and dozens of new pieces you’ve got to check out. Be sure to look at my site HERE to see all of the new pieces.
Pax has been in my grocery cart for months and I’m always trying to stack my groceries around his giant car seat. I’m happy to say that in the last week Pax has graduated to the front of the grocery cart, yay! Room for groceries He’s happy too.
Oh my sweet boys. They wanted Pax to look like a “dude” so they put a baseball hat on backwards, lol! Pax also got his first haircut this past weekend. Little cutie pie.
Have a wonderful weekend, see you Monday for a new recipe!!

What a fun couple weeks it’s been around here. School is FINALLY out for summer and our family has been visiting from Arizona. My Father-in-Law brought me some of these new Oreo’s that have just come out. Have you tried them? I am not a sherbet fan, but the watermelon wasn’t as bad as everyone was telling me. I didn’t mind them, but if I’m being honest, I’ll stick to my regular chocolate Oreo’s
Did some shopping with my Mother-in-Law and stopped in Bath and Body Works. Loving these baked goods scents they had. Homemade Cookies?! Yes please My FIL also brought me this chocolate spread from Ikea. Have you tried this? It’s got little caramel candy bits throughout. It’s pretty good!!
When our family comes to visit we always head over to Balboa Island to walk, cross the ferry and grab lunch. I happened to catch this great moment with my boys. It really looks like they like each other, lol!! Love these guys.
We had lunch at Ruby’s Diner on the Balboa Pier and Pax was having a grand ol’ time. Caught this of him as he was banging the table from his high chair. Looks like he’s flashing that little front tooth. Funny baby.
We went to Knott’s Berry Farm with the kids and our family this week. It was the most gorgeous day for an amusement park. The kids had a blast and the adults were loving the somewhat cloudy, breezy weather.
My sweet mom was here on her birthday this week. I was so grateful to just spend the day with her. My dad took the boys to the beach so we could just hang out together. We watched Bachelorette and went for a walk down PCH. It was perfect. I also made her THIS cake. You must try it. We had it for breakfast, lol!
Did a little shopping this week. Found these cutest neon pink flats at Old Navy on clearance for $12.00. Love a good deal. Also found this brand new scent by Marc Jacobs called Honey, it smells perfectly sweet and light for summer. Could NOT pass it up. How adorable is the bottle?
Most nights we walk down to Corona del Mar beach to watch the sunset. My sister took this photo of Cullen and I. Love this guy!
We went to Disney’s California Adventure yesterday. It was incredibly hot in Anaheim so we took a break at Ghiradelli’s and shared this giant coookies and cream waffle cone. Cooled us off for a few minutes, lol!

My baby Pax turned 9 months old a couple days ago and the little stinker is crawling! Boy oh boy, he’s into anything and everything. What a joy this little guy is. Look at that face, lol!
Had my family from AZ visiting over the weekend. Had such a great time going for morning walks with my mom and Dad. We were cracking up Saturday morning, we found ourselves in the middle of the 5K by the beach that was going on. Had to stop and take a picture.
We tried a new restaurant last week called the Playground in Downtown Santa Ana. I have no words to describe how amazing our dining experience was. If you are ever in Southern California get down there for delicious food.
Seriously?! This is one more shot from the Playground. Keep in mind they have a new menu every night but you can always order their burger. Nuff said. Haha.
My sweet Brady is 8 years old this week. Can’t even believe how old my boys are getting. They are sweet an ornery all at the same time. I made Brady this Hershey Bar Castle Cake I found on Pinterest. Perfect for my little king, lol!
So, I was strolling through the mall last week and saw that Mac had their new summer line out. I snatched up this slightly glittery new lipstick called Caliente. Check it out next time you are out shopping!
My favorite time of year at Trader Joe’s!! Peonies!
Gina’s Pizza in Corona del Mar. Do it
Have a great week friends! See you Friday with an amazing cookie recipe.
It’s Friday! Yippee
What a great week it’s been. Last weekend we got to spend some time with my sister and her family visiting from AZ. They got a beach house practically right on the water so we spent lots of time in the sunshine, sand and water. Here’s my sweet little guy living it up. This boy knows how to play.
CanNOT get enough of this Red Raspberry Lemonade Cupcake from B Candy in Corona Del Mar. I’ve tried many many cupcakes in my day and this is one of my all time favorites. If you are ever in Southern California, you’ve got to get one…..and the Frosted Flake Ice Cream. To die for!
A few more pictures from our weekend at the beach. My boys had so much fun playing with their cousins. It’s always so sad to see them go!
My Paxerooni got his first tooth! Little cutie pie wants to eat anything and everything that goes near his mouth, lol!
Ok, who saw Gatsby last weekend? I had been waiting to see it for a while and it was really good. Not your typical feel good Fairy Tale story line, but it was definitely entertaining. Would love to hear your thoughts on it.
Beach time with Pax and a giant Banana Split Sundae of my nephew.
I found a macaron candle at B Candy this week. I am in love. It smells just like a lovely sweet macaron! It’s by Voluspa.
My sister had on some fun neon summer flip flops and come to find out she got them at Payless for under $10! Going to get some asap!
Headed to Walt Disney World this weekend for the Food Blog Forum. I’m probably on the airplane right now Kind of tradition to get Cajun Shrimp nails for this event, can’t stop the tradition right? Love this OPI color!

So excited to play at Walt Disney World with some amazing Food Bloggers this weekend! I’ll be sure to eat a few churros for everyone.
Have a great weekend!!
Welcome to another addition of my chit chat page. Hope you are enjoying these as much as I am. If not, feel free to click over to the recipes, I’ve got lots to choose from!
First things first, I was cracking up when I saw the e-card above. How true is this while on Pinterest?! I’ll be pinning like crazy and realize I absolutely do this, haha! Oh well, it’s all good fun
I could hardly contain my excitement this week knowing I was going to see a live taping of The Voice with my friend Sara in LA! We were sitting right above Adam’s seat and had a great view of the stage. What a fun night it was. Love Love Love this show. Grateful to the guy sitting next to us who snuck his phone in and took some pics for us.
One of my favorite finds this week were these fun summer sandals by Sam and Libby at Target! Remember Sam and Libby from the 90′s? I used to wear them all the time. Love that they are making a come back. These look so cute on. You can see mine on Instagram HERE. Love these leather metallic silver flip flops from Gap too.
So, last Sunday I was sitting in church with my family and in walks Mindy Gledhill, one of my favorite musicians ever! So glad I introduced myself and got a picture with her. She is so sweet. If you haven’t heard her music, you must check it out. She is amazing!!
So…..when Amanda was visiting last week, we made homemade macarons together. Let’s just say, the version I am posting first thing Monday morning is out of this world delicious!! I think you can see what I did, haha.
Completely obsessed with all of the cherry blossom trees around our neighborhood. They are just so happy and lovely right?
Unsure what you should ask for Mother’s Day? One of my good friends told me about Jo Malone cologne/perfume a couple months ago. Guess I have been living in a box, because I didn’t know much about it. Can I just say that they make the most beautiful scents ever? I’ve never been a huge perfume collector until now. Great, lol! The fun of Jo Malone scents is that they are made to mix and match to create your own signature scent. It’s just too much fun. Check your local Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdales if you don’t have a Jo Malone boutique. Here’s a store locator to see where there’s one nearest you. Trust me, they are worth hunting down. My favorites are Nectarine Blossom and Honey, Orange Blossom, Redcurrent and Cream and Blue Agava…and just about all of the others.
My little angel boy is 8 months old now. Little cutie pie cut his first tooth on Wednesday this week. Can not even tell you how much I love this kid. Pure happiness and joy!!
Have a great weekend friends! See you Monday for a macaron party!

My friends Amanda and Angie flew down a day early and we may have had a dessert fest. See below, lol! Oh yah, what you see above is a chocolate chip cookie dough milkshake from the Shake Shack in Crystal Cove. It overlooks the beach. Such a fun spot.
Angie, Amanda and I decided we definitely had to go visit Melody at her “Sweet and Saucy Shop” in Newport Beach. Melody has some of the most beautiful and delicious desserts around. You can see we sampled our fair share. Party time!

We showed up for dinner Friday night to the most gorgeous home on a hill with a backyard that opened up to an amazing view. It was a perfect place to catch up with old and new friends. Here’s the scene of our breakfast Saturday morning. It was sunny and lovely. The food could not have been better. Fruit, yogurt, breakfast pizzas, muffins, breads, you name it we ate it, lol!
