Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel is a great option when you are booking your next Disneyland Resort vacation, one of our favorites!

Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel

Paradise Pier Hotel is one of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels, all of which are walking distance to the parks.  We have stayed at all three hotels and will share our experience, pros and cons of staying at Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel.

Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel

I love the “beach-y” feel at Paradise Pier Hotel.  In our experience, the rooms have been clean, inviting and charming with fun sand-and-surf style furniture and decor.  I actually prefer the rooms here than at the Grand Californian which is almost twice as expensive.

Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel

In a nutshell, Paradise Pier Hotel is the least expensive of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels.  Depending on the time of year, rates generally start around $269 per night.  Disneyland Hotel being right in the middle about $100 more per night than Paradise Pier Hotel and Grand Californian being most expensive anywhere from $400-600 per night.

When comparing the hotels and distance to the parks, Paradise Pier Hotel is the furthest away.  It’s still a fairly quick walk to the parks.  You used to be able walk across the street and cut through the Grand Californian Hotel and get to Downtown Disney District, however in December 2016 they’ve changed the route with the new security check points.  You now have to exit through the back of the Paradise Pier Hotel lobby towards the parking garage and follow the signs to Downtown Disney District.  You’ll have a security check point before you enter into Downtown Disney.  It’s by Earl of Sandwich and the ESPN Zone.  It was quick and easy.  It’s so nice to not have the congestion near the park entrances like there used to be.  I prefer the new security check points.  If you are parking at the Mickey and Friends Parking Lot, you’ll go down the escalators and go through a security check point before you get onto the tram to Downtown Disney District.

Paradise Pier Hotel has a rooftop pool and waterslide if you feel like taking advantage of some pool time.  They are also home to a fun Character Dining experience, Surf’s Up! Breakfast with Mickey and Friends at PCH Grill.  We had a great time, check out our full review HERE.

If you choose to select a room with a park view, you can see the Disneyland Park fireworks and the World of Color nighttime show.  Be sure to check your options online if this is of interest to you.

One of our favorite perks to take advantage of while staying at one of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels is the Extra Magic Hour.  Depending on the day, you get to enter into one of the parks one hour early before the general public can enter with your park ticket and hotel room key.  It makes such a difference having some time in the parks with lighter crowds.

When you walk through the lobby, Goofy in his beach gear and surfboard is there for photo opps.  Of course my boys pretend like Goofy is eating their head.  Boys, lol!

The palm tree lined sidewalks near the Paradise Pier Hotel are dreamy.  You’ll find that the 10 minute walk is scenic and enjoyable.

Pro’s of Paradise Pier Hotel

-least expensive of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels.

-Charming beach style rooms.

-Extra Magic Hour

-Surf’s Up!  Breakfast with Mickey and Friends Character Dining experience.

Con’s of Paradise Pier Hotel

-Furthest distance to the parks between the three Disneyland Resort Hotels.

-Can no longer cut through Grand Californian to enter parks that way through Downtown Disney District.

Overall review…Although Paradise Pier Hotel is furthest from the parks out of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels, we LOVE staying here.  The 10 minute walk doesn’t bother me at all.  I’ll miss being able to cut through Grand Californian, however we got used to walking straight to Downtown Disney District during our last stay. PS. don’t try to go to Grand Californian by exiting the front of the Paradise Pier Hotel lobby, we tried just to “make sure” and they have security at the street light crosswalks that make you turn right around, lol!

We enjoy Paradise Pier Hotel and will continue to enjoy staying here.
