Mozzarella Stuffed Homemade Meatballs by Picky Palate

Bringing more delicious dinner ideas your way!ย  Anyone else think they could eat these meatballs everyday next week and be completely happy?!ย  Heaven knows my family could and practically did last week, lol!ย  My boys devoured these gorgeous beef balls and are very sad they are gone now.

I’ve created a simple homemade meatball that is stuffed with those gorgeous marinated Mozzarella balls you’ll find in the refrigerated section of your grocery store by the fresh Mozzarella.ย  They are a bit on the pricey side, but worth every single penny according to my family ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope you enjoy!ย  On another note, did anyone see Adjustment Bureau over the weekend?!ย  We loved it!ย  I couldn’t be more thrilled that my sister and her family are visiting from AZ!ย  We are off to Disney today, let’s hope the weather cooperates with us!

Here’s your line up ๐Ÿ™‚

Little Mozzarella balls straight from heaven, love these blasted things.

Let’s make the meatballs, add your seasonings…

…..your milk

….add a little Tabasco

…some Worcestershire sauce.

Bread crumbs…


add your egg…

….Mmm Parmesan Cheese

…don’t forget your onion!

…and the garlic.ย  Give it all a big mix until just combined.

Time to stuff em!

Don’t they look like little nests?ย  Too funny ๐Ÿ™‚

Make sure the cheese is fully enclosed and it’s time to bake.

Mozzarella Stuffed Homemade Meatballs

2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

1 pound lean ground beef

1 large egg

1/2 cup finely chopped white onion

1/2 cup Panko bread crumbs

1/2 cup fresh grated parmesan cheese

1/4 cup milk

2 tablespoons minced garlic

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon yellow mustard

1 teaspoon hot sauce, like Tabasco

1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1/4 teaspoon garlic salt

Ten 1-inch Mozzarella balls

1.ย  Preheat oven to 35o degrees F. and grease 9×13-inch baking dish with oil.

2.ย  Place beef, egg, onion, bread crumbs, Parmesan, milk, garlic, Worcestershire, mustard, hot sauce, salt, pepper and garlic salt into a large mixing bowl, stirring until just combined.ย  Take 1/4 cup beef mixture and press into center with your thumb to make room for cheese ball.ย  Place cheese in middle then with hands enclose the cheese with the beef, making sure the cheese is completely covered.ย  Place meatballs into prepared baking dish and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until cooked through.

3.ย  Serve over top your favorite pasta or inside a warm roll for delicious meatball sandwich.

    These sound delicious. Like others, I’ve had stuffed burgers before, but never gone so far as to stuff individual meatballs. Hmm.

    We tried these the other night. WOW! They were a huge hit and lucky we had leftovers (I made the meatballs much smaller than you suggested), so I ate some of them yesterday for lunch and when my daughter got home and found out their wasn’t much left she claimed them for her supper. I LOVE trying new recipes and usually experiment so much I only make each recipe a few times a year, but this one we’ll be having again VERY soon.

    I also love that the meatballs themselves are bursting with flavour and would even taste fab on their own! Thank you for this recipe and keep ’em coming!

    These are divine!!! Most meatballs are so bland, but even without the cheese these would be fab. But with the mozza—-yummmmmm! I can’t wait to make these again. Both my husband and 4-yr old loved these and look forward to another meal of it.

    I’ve made these twice now. AMAZING! I can see why they are one of your favourite things to eat Jenny (I saw that on that yummy mummy website you were featured on!)     These are so good! I tripled the recipe because I added 1lb of ground pork and 1 lb of ground hot Italian sausage. It was still amazing!!!

    I am making these for a date tonight. I didn’t put Tabasco, Worcestershire, or mustard in it, but I wrapped each mozzarella ball in prosciutto and then stuffed the meat ball with that. I am going to use an arrabbiata sauce and I am serving it over home made noodles. I think its going to turn out great. Thanks for the idea!

    This is delish. I live in a small town with a small grocery store and they don’t carry the mozzarella balls. I bought mozzarella string cheese and cut them into pieces. I worked great. We used them in club rolls with marinara sauce. My husband had the rest of the meatballs for his breakfast this morning. ๐Ÿ™‚
