2 Picky Palate Readers will win the above Pillsbury Dough Boy doll that giggles when you press his belly (the kids LOVE it!) and a fabulous recipe booklet with mouthwatering photos!

Leave a comment and tell us all what makes a “winning” recipe in your house. What is it that catches your eye? Certain ingredients, quick and easy, homemade, semi homemade? You get the picture. We’d love to know!! I know for me, it has to be easy ingredients to pick up at the grocery store and fast to get on the dinner table!!

I love easy recipes using fresh ingredients….also love a recipe that can easily morph into a different meal by adding a new ingredient or two.

  2. Susan

Not too picky at our house, but if it is at least semi-homemade, it seems to taste all the more delicious!

  3. Suzanne

I’m always looking for new twists on things we love! I am a fan of reading and collecting recipes. I’m also trying hard to find things that my 4 year old will eat and love.

    Winning recipes here–chocolate! ha
I know it’s a winner when the boys all like it, too!

  5. Tina

A winning recipe in our house is one that the entire family can actually say they like it. Its hard to please everyone but when you get that look of omygoodness this is good from each and every memeber of you family, well you know its a winner then. Sometimes its just the simplist foods that work in our house. But it is definitly the homemade from scratch dishes they love the best.

Easy and Nutrious…mostly anyway! A favorite is Chicken Pot Pie. Just steam up all the vaggies with some Cr. of Chicken and then top it with the Pillsbury Refrigerated Pie Crust. yummy, fast, simple, and get some veggies too!

  7. Trish

I know I have a winning recipe when I’m happy because at least half the ingedients were already in the house and my husband and 10 year old are fighting over who gets to have the left-overs for lunch the next day.

  8. Lindsay

Quick and easy! Right now I’m dealing with a very picky one year old, so anything she’ll eat (and my three year old) is all I need. My husbands great, and will eat anything!

  9. Cathy

A winning recipe for me is one that my husband would enjoy eating on a weekly basis. Anything with chicken, steak, chocolate and penut butter are always great (but not together ^_^)!

  10. Julie

If it tastes great that’s all the matters. I may get upset if it doesn’t look nice because I do try and photograph recipes for my blog, but tasting good is much more important in our house.

  11. Megan

A winning recipe for us has simple ingredients and doesn’t use the oven! We’re in the south and it’s far too hot to think about turning on the oven 🙂

  12. Katie

If you ask my son, he would tell you that pesto needs to be in every recipe, my other son would say spaghetti, and my hubby would say meat – any kind. I like ingredients that my whole family will eat. Sometimes that is difficult.

  13. Dixie

For us, it’s homemade. My daughter loves to help in the process. I also like to make things that can do double duty – eat roasted chicken one night, use the leftover meat to make soup and a casserole or chicken tacos. That works for us!

  14. Sarah

For me, it’s anything that I can get all my picky eaters to eat! 🙂 If I am cooking during the week, it has to be a quick meal.

  15. Nina

My husband will eat anything so the way I determine if it is a winning recipe or if he is just hungry is by whether or not he requests the same meal again or by how fast the left overs disappear.

  16. Tracy

A winner in our home is something that is semi-homemade, but tastes completely homemade.
    Thanks for the great blog!!

I am not so pigeon-holed in my cooking that I gravitate to labels like homemade, quick and easy, etc. I get pure enjoyment from reading cookbooks, the picture grabs me and I peruse the list of ingredients and then read over the process….when something clicks in me….I have to make it.
What makes a recipe ‘winning’ is when my “not-so-hot-about-leftovers” man asked excitedly the next night if we are having -recipe made- again… Now I know he LOVED it.

  18. Heather J.

I love anything that I can dump in the crockpot and walk away from until it’s time to put it on the plate.

  19. Christy

A winning recipe to me is one that doesn’t require a lot of ingredients. Also, it’s good if those ingredients aren’t very expensive. Healthy recipes are always good because they motivate me to eat better, but of course my favorites are the desserts. 🙂 You give me anything with chocolate and I’m in!!!

Freshly baked bread fills the house with a heavenly aroma, but anything with honey is a hit in our home. From sandwiches to stir fry…it has a 100% satisfactory rate.

  21. maureen

In my family a recipe has to be a few things. One is that it must be easy. If there is a picture attached to it for the final show all the better. It also has to have good ingredients that are not hard to find.

  22. Sara

To me, a winning recipe is something that hopefully takes less than an hour to make and is healthy! Oh and it must be liked by the hubby! 🙂

  23. Crystal

I like recipes that are relatively simple to make (I do go for elaborate once in a while, but most often I don’t), use ingredients that I normally have on hand, and preferably do not contain any pre-made item (such as Bisquick, freezer rolls, etc).

  24. Stephanie

To me a winning recipe is one with inexpensive ingredients, preferably ones I have on hand, that looks delicious. A plus is if it’s comfort-food style – fattening! 😉

  25. Jennifer

Winning recipes mean I can make them multiple times and they still turn out well. (Also, almost anything that has chocolate in it is a winning recipe by my standards!) I also love recipes my whole family will eat. I’ve got 3 very picky eaters at my house.

  26. Elle Bee

What makes a recipe for our family is that it is a good balance of homemade but not to time consuming and has fresh ingredients, like fresh raw summer vegetables! Lots of bright natural colors gives us a thrill too! :o)

Quick and easy and versatile…Mexie meat for tacos, burritos, nachos, etc. in the fridge and ready to grab!
