Pasta night happens quite often at our home each week. This gorgeous pot of pasta with my homemade sauce, ground sausage, fresh basil and sprinkles of Parmesan cheese is going to make your family very happy. It’s one of our simple favorites. Hope you enjoy!

What You’ll Need

How To Make Rigatoni Recipe

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions being careful to not overcook pasta. Drain and set aside.
  2. Brown sausage in large pot over medium heat until cooked through. Stir in cooked pasta, salt, pepper, 10 minute Homemade sauce, and fresh basil.
  3. Stir gently, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and serve warm.

pour homemade sauce over cooked rigatoni. Pasta tip: Make sure when cooking your rigatoni that you don’t over cook it. I generally cook my pasta for 1 minute less than the package recommends, but also check it before that by carefully pulling a pasta out of the boiling water and testing it’s doneness with a fork or biting into it to see it it’s al dente. This way you don’t get a pasta that is overcooked.

Stir in fresh basil leaves that have been thinly sliced. Gently stir pasta.

How To Serve

Serve rigatoni recipe warm with a side of garlic bread and side salad if desired.

Leftovers

Serve any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat as needed.

  • 1 pound dry Rigatoni pasta
  • 1 pound ground sausage
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 cup thinly sliced fresh basil
  • 1/4 cup fresh grated Parmesan cheese
  • 10 Minute Homemade Pasta Sauce
