We moved out of California just over a year ago but one of the places I miss the most is The Hat! Most amazing pastrami’s and the best chili cheese fries (great hangover food!). They have a few on OC but the original one is in L.A.

I love to eat at Rance’s Chicago Pizza in Costa Mesa. Delicious salads and pizzas. Everything is fresh and “homemade”. This is the real Chicago style deep dish (stuffed) pizza…it’s a pie. They also have pan style and thin crust pizza. It’s so yummy. Voted best pizza restaurant in Orange County. 1420 Baker Street (corner of Baker and Harbor), Costa Mesa, CA.

Try visiting the Anaheim Packing House the next time you’re in the OC – there’s a fantastic southern place, grilled cheese place, and just so much it seems there’s something new there every time I’m in town.
Just 5 minutes from the APH is a Mexican gastropub called Pour Vida Latin Flavor on Center Street Promenade. They have the most divine brussel’s sprout tacos, but you really can’t go wrong with any of their amazing tacos!
Last but certainly not least is Sidecar Doughnuts in Costa Mesa/Newport Beach. Best doughnuts you’ll EVER HAVE – NO JOKE!

Welcome to Picky Palate, my online kitchen! You'll usually find me with a cookie in one hand and a salad in the other. It's all about the balance :) The recipes you'll see are my creations. The Picky Palate Cookbook is now available. Enjoy!
