Ingredients Needed To Make Disney Parks Homemade Churros
- water
- butter
- kosher salt
- ground cinnamon
- all purpose flour
- eggs
- vegetable or canola oil
- granulated sugar
- chocolate sauce for dipping if desired
See bottom of post for full recipe.
You’ll need to find a large star piping tip to make the churros. I ordered mine on Amazon. Shouldn’t be too hard to find. You’ll want to snip about 3/4 inch off bottom of plastic piping bag to be able to push the large star tip though the bottom. Don’t make opening too large or tip will fall through. You want it to fit nice and snug.
How To Make Churros Recipe
- Combine water, butter, salt, and ¼ teaspoon cinnamon in 1 ½-quart saucepan over medium heat. Bring pot to rolling boil. Reduce heat to low.
- Add flour and stir vigorously until mix forms a ball. Remove from heat and let rest for 5-7 min.
- Add eggs, one at a time, and stir until combined. Set aside.
- Heat oil in medium skillet or 1-quart saucepan over medium-high heat or until temperature reaches 350˚.
- Spoon dough into piping bag fitted with large star tip. Pipe 1-inch strip of dough over saucepan, cut with knife, and drop into hot oil. Repeat until churro bites fill saucepan with room to fry. Fry churro bites until golden brown. Remove with slotted spoon or mesh spider strainer.
- Drain churro bites on paper towel. Mix sugar and ½ teaspoon cinnamon in medium bowl. Toss in churro bites until coated. Place on serving plate and serve with favorite dipping sauce.
When the liquid comes to a boil, stir in flour. Dough will start to form.
Continue stirring until dough forms. Let dough sit for 5-7 minutes to rest before adding eggs. Once dough has rested, add eggs one at a time, stirring until well combined.
Place churro dough into piping bag with large star tip attached. Twist top of piping bag so you can push dough through tip easily. Notice where I snipped the bottom of my piping bag. The tip pushed through just past the opening. This way the churro dough will be easy to push through with a snug tip attached.
How Hot Does Oil Need To Be To Fry Churros?
Your oil should be 350 degrees F. to fry churros. Use vegetable oil or canola oil.
Squeeze about 1 inch of churro dough out of piping bag and use scissors to snip so the dough falls slowly and carefully into the hot oil. Add up to 10 little strips of churro dough into the hot oil. Use a mesh strainer to stir and flip them in the oil until browned on both sides.
When golden brown, remove churros from oil and transfer to a paper towel lined plate to drain the oil quickly.
Quickly place hot churro bites into cinnamon sugar mixture to coat all sides.
Place coated churros onto parchment paper until all have been fried and coated with cinnamon sugar.
Serve homemade churros in your favorite serving dishes or plates. They were even delicious once they cooled. I will definitely make them again!
Dip the churro bites into your favorite dipping sauce. We melted some chocolate and had a warm chocolate sauce.
Fluffernutter Churros
Drizzle some churro bites with melted peanut butter, marshmallow cream and top with mini chocolate chips to make Fluffernutter Churros just like the ones from Willie’s Churro Cart from Disney California Adventure. So good!

Amazing! My family and I have made these for every
one of our guests!
Can I pre-make the dough in advance? I have made these several times they are delicious but would like to prepare the mixture so that I’m not doing everything at the last minute. Thanks
Hi Wendy, I haven’t tried making the dough in advance, I feel like it might thicken if done ahead of time and refrigerated.
Thanks for this recipe! They turned out great, but how do you keep the oil from bubbling and foaming? Am I doing something wrong?
We added the 2 tbsp of sugar as mentioned above. I am both happy and sad to say these did not make it through the day. The family devoured them. Thank you for sharing this and the step by step instructions!!
I made these today. They are definitely easy. I didn’t think the inside was sweet enough. Tasted like plain bread. The Chef Marcella recipe calls for adding 2 tablespoons of sugar to the water. I will do that next time. We melted Nutella and dipped them. The kids approve 😊
Thankyou for step by step instructions , photos and a video! So yummy! We follow you on IG so I was happy when you found your page on my iPad !
So glad to hear it Amanda! Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated.
