Sharing an absolutely delicious Pommes Frites recipe today inspired by Cafe Orleans at Disneyland Park! These Pomme Frites are simple to make at home and taste just like the ones you get at the restaurant!

What You’ll Need

  • canola or vegetable oil– You’ll use the oil to fry the French Fries.
  • frozen french fries– Check for the Ore Ida brand French Fries.
  • Parmesan cheese– Parmesan helps makes up the topping for the French Fries.
  • fresh minced garlic- You can mince your own garlic or use the minced garlic that is sold in little jars near the produce section of the grocery store.
  • cajun seasoning– The cajun seasoning adds a little kick to the French Fries.
  • freshly chopped parsley– Fresh parsley adds a little freshness and color to the fries.
  • kosher salt– Kosher salt is a coarse salt commonly used in cooking and baking.
  • Thousand Island Dressing– This dressing helps make up the dipping sauce.
  • mayonnaise– Use a full fat mayonnaise for best results.
  • Worcestershire sauce– This sauce is added to the dipping sauce.
  • Dijon– Dijon mustard adds another layer of flavor to the dipping sauce.
  • Creole Seasoning– Find Creole seasoning in the spices section of the grocery store. Adds a little kick to the sauce.
  • lemon juice– Fresh lemon juice is added to the sauce.
  • paprika– Paprika adds a smoky layer of flavor to the sauce.
  • black pepper- For best tasting results use freshly cracked black pepper.

You want to make sure you use a large pot with candy thermometer/deef frying thermometer. Let oil reach 375 degrees F. Make sure oil is filled about 1/2 way up the sides of your pot.

How To Make Pomme Frites

  1. Place oil into a large 3-5 quart pot over medium heat with a deep frying/candy thermometer attached. Heat oil to 375 degrees F. Open French Fry bag and have a deep frying sieve ready to assist getting the French Fries in and out of the oil. Have a large plate nearby lined with a paper towel to drain the French Fries alone with a large bowl to toss the French Fries with the Pomme Frites seasoning.
  2. To prepare the Pomme Frites seasoning, place both Parmesan cheeses, garlic, Cajun seasoning, parsley and salt into a medium bowl. Stir to combine and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Cajun Remoulade while oil is coming up to temperature. Place Thousand Island Dressing, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, Dijon, Creole Seasoning, lemon juice, paprika, salt and pepper into a large mixing bowl. Stir to combine. Place into a serving dish that will be used to dip the Pomme Frites in.

Disneyland Copycat Recipe

  1. When oil has come up to temperature, carefully place fries into oil, in 2 batches. Use sieve to stir French Fry’s while they cook. Cook Fry’s for 3-4 minutes, until crisp and starting to turn golden brown. Carefully remove fries with sieve directly onto the paper towel lined plate. Let drain for 30 seconds then transfer to the large bowl. Immediately toss cheese mixture over fries and stir to coat. Transfer Pomme Frites to a serving dish lined with parchment paper. Serve with Cajun Remoulade.

What Are Pommes Frites?

Pommes Frites are French for French Fries.

Carefully place frozen French Fries into hot oil. Oil will bubble very dramatically. Again, make sure oil isn’t filled too full when starting otherwise you could get some oil that bubbles out.

It’s very helpful to have some sort of sieve to help stir and remove your French Fries when done in oil. You want to cook for 3-4 minutes until crispy and turning golden brown.

When French fries are done, drain on paper towel briefly then sprinkle with a pinch of salt and toss.

Toss with Parmesan Cheese mixture and transfer to serving bowl/plate of choice.

While oil is coming up to temperature be sure to prepare your Cajun Remoulade so it’s ready for dipping when Pommes Frites are ready.

How To Store Leftovers

The Fries are best enjoyed the day of making. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 day. You could try popping them in the air fryer until re-crisped.

Ingredients

Pommes Frites Seasoning

  • 3 tablespoons grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 3 tablespoons shredded Parmesan Cheese
  • 2 teaspoons finely minced garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cajun Seasoning look for Tony Chachere's brand
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

Cajun Remoulade

  • 1/2 cup Thousand Island Dressing
  • 1/4 cup Mayonnaise don't use low-fat
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cajun Seasoning look for Tony Chachere's brand
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
