What Is Pizza Dip?

Pizza dip is a cream cheese based dip combined with traditional pizza sauces, cheeses and pepperoni.

What You’ll Need For Pepperoni Pizza Dip

Here are the ingredients you’ll need to make this easy dip recipe. See the recipe card located at the bottom of the post for full details.

  • cream cheese– Use a full-fat cream cheese for the dip recipe.
  • salt– I use Kosher salt for my recipes.
  • pepper– For best tasting results use freshly cracked black pepper.
  • garlic salt– Check for Lawry’s garlic salt, it’s a good one.
  • dried Oregano– Dried Oregano can be found in the spices section of the grocery store. It’s an added pizza seasoning for the dip.
  • mozzarella cheese– Shredded mozzarella cheese is added to the cream cheese for a creamy pizza dip.
  • cheddar cheese– Shredded cheddar cheese is also added to the other cheeses.
  • pizza sauce or pasta sauce– You can use either pizza sauce or pasta sauce for your pizza dip.
  • Parmesan cheese– Grated Parmesan cheese is added to the other cheeses in the dip.
  • pepperonis– I used mini pepperoni slices for my dip, regular size is great too.
  • sliced green onion or parsley– For color and freshness, I added green onion and parsley to the top of the dip.

How To Make Pizza Dip

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. and have a small baking dish or pie plate or small cast iron skillet out to use.

Prepare Cream Cheese Layer. Place cream cheese, oregano, salt, garlic salt, pepper, mozzarella cheese and cheddar cheese into a medium sized mixing bowl, stirring to combine.

Layer Cream Cheese In Bottom Of Pan. Place cream cheese mixture into the bottom of your baking dish, spreading evenly. Top evenly with grated Parmesan Cheese then marina or pizza sauce.

Add Cheese And Pepperoni. Top with more mozzarella cheese and layer with pepperonis. I used mini pepperonis today to make “Hidden Mickey’s” (yes I’m a Disney nerd) for my dip. Feel free to use regular size pepperonis too.

Bake for 30-35 minutes, until hot and bubbly. Edges will start to turn golden. Remove and garnish with sliced green onion or chopped parsley. Serve warm with your favorite crackers, little toasts, vegetables or chips for dipping.

Bake the dip until cheese is melted and hot and bubbly, edges turn nice and golden brown.

Can I Use Low Fat or Fat Free Cream Cheese?

No, for best results, use full fat cream cheese for this pizza dip.

If I Don’t Have Pizza Sauce Can I Use Pasta/Marinara Sauce?

Yes, your favorite jar of pasta sauce works just fine. Save remaining sauce in the refrigerator to use for another dinner.

What Size Baking Dish Should I Use For The Dip?

Use a small skillet, 8 or 9 inches, similar size cast iron skillets work great too. The white baking dish I used today is 9 x 7 inches.

Can I Make The Dip Ahead of Time?

Yes, prepare the dip before the baking step. Cover with foil and refrigerate until you’re ready to bake. Remove dip from refrigerator at least 2 hours before baking so it comes close to room temperature. Otherwise allow more time to bake than what recipe states.

How To Serve Pizza Dip

Serve Pizza Dip during your favorite parties, holidays, basically any occasion you are entertaining family and friends. Serve with crackers, chips, little toasts and vegetables.

How To Store Leftovers

Refrigerate. If needed, store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator.

Reheating Instructions. This dip is best eaten the day of cooking, but if needed reheat in a heat proof dish, loosely covered in the microwave for 60-90 seconds until hot.

Freezing not recommended.

I make this in my mini crockpot for tailgating…even at home. We think it is even better the next day. For tailgating, I air fry the mini pep for crispy (it is usually 4am when we are getting ready to hit the road) pepperoni, then place on top. DELISH!!
