Honey Whole Wheat Pizza Dough Recipe

My Honey Whole Wheat Pizza Dough Recipe is a sure winner for your family and friends!

Honey Whole Wheat Pizza Dough Recipe by Picky Palate

You are in for such a treat with my Honey Whole Wheat Pizza Dough recipe! I have been making pizza for a couple weeks now and cannot stop! I used to stock up on store-bought dough from Trader Joe’s like it was going out of style. I still love it, but there’s something about making your own pizza dough in your kitchen that can’t be beat!

My recipe could not be more simple to prepare. No waiting for the dough to rise, it’s literally done in about 15 minutes.

So excited for you to make your own dough for your family, not only does it taste incredible, your house smells like a dream too!

Honey Whole Wheat Pizza Dough Recipe-1

Here’s most of your line up of ingredients. Simple pantry ingredients!

Honey Whole Wheat Pizza Dough Recipe-6

I love the sweetness the honey gives the dough. Mmm! We like to use local raw honey.

Prepare The Pizza Dough

Honey Whole Wheat Pizza Dough x1

Start with adding warm water to your stand mixer along with the yeast and sugar.

Honey Whole Wheat Pizza Dough x2

Let the yeast and sugar sit for 10 minutes then add your flour, olive oil, honey and salt.

Honey Whole Wheat Pizza Dough x3

With the dough hook attached, let mix for 3 minutes, until well combined.

Honey Whole Wheat Pizza Dough Recipe-11

Take dough out of the bowl.

Knead The Dough

Honey Whole Wheat Pizza Dough Recipe-12

Transfer dough to a floured counter top.

Honey Whole Wheat Pizza Dough Recipe-13

Knead a few times folding over and pushing.

Honey Whole Wheat Pizza Dough Recipe-14

Form dough into a round ball. You can bake it at this point, cut it into fourths for individual pizzas, or refrigerate in a Ziploc bag.

Honey Whole Wheat Pizza Dough

ย My boys love making their own pizzas, so I usually cut this dough into fourths and store in the refrigerator or freezer. I put one of these baggies into the fridge and baked it after 1 week and it worked great.

[…] I love making homemade pizza.ย  First, you need to start with a delicious, but easy homemade dough. I hate having to wait so many hours for the dough to be ready. Those recipes don’t really fit my schedule.ย  So here’s a quick, healthy and tasty whole wheat pizza dough from Picky Palate. […]

Omg that photo! Your shoes! That gorgeous outfit!! And this pizza dough!! I want it all! Xoxo

  29. 29
    Tieghan says:

Your skirt and shoes are the cutest! Love that first photo!!

And I mean the pizza dough?!? Yum!! Sound and looks so good! Homemade pizza is the best!

  30. 30

First, like the others, I loved the photo! THe heels and skirt definitely upscaled the shot! Never give your secrets away … dirty hair DONT CARE ๐Ÿ™‚

Second, love the recipe, and I will try it. I’ve failed, miserably, at making pizza dough. I’ve used ALL of the “best” recipes, and I just suck at it. However, no one really laid out the steps like you do. That may be the key. I’ll try it in a few weeks when the family is over and see.

I’m curious about storage. You mentioned that it lasts in the fridge a week. Is that the average? What about the freezer?

    • 30.1
      Jenny says:

I only tested the dough for a week in the fridge but it may last longer. You should probably be good for a month in the freezer. I put one in the freezer, took it out a couple of days later, baked it about 4 days later and it was fine. Good luck!

  31. 31
    Lindsay says:

I Love thick, fluffy pizza dough! This is a must try and the little bags of dough are too cute!

    Jackie says:

Hi! I have a question, I’ve only used regular whole wheat flour for baking and cooking. Do you find white whole wheat flour better? Is it a different consistency or is it just white as opposed to brown? Thanks!

  38. 38
    Emma Budraitis says:

Would using best flour change this recipe? And if I wanted to make twice as much should I double all the ingredients or make two separate batches.

  39. 39

There’s nothing quite like fresh pizza dough just made at home. So much better than the store bought versions. Thanks for sharing this recipe!

    Tiffany says:

This was so easy to make. My husband was happy he didn’t have to wait 2 hours for the dough to rise. And I was happy it was whole wheat. Definitely a great pizza dough recipe.

    Vera says:

Hey! When you bake your pizza do you use a pizza stone, just a regular baking sheet?? Just wondering which works the best.

  46. 46
    Megan says:

I made this tonight (and I did it on a baking sheet that I sprayed with olive oil spray first) and it came out fabulous! My 11 month old devoured it. She kept eating and eating; I was worried she’d end up with a tummyache from overfilling her little belly! This was incredibly easy and the first time I used my dough hook since I got my stand mixer 4 years ago!

    big thumbs up ๐Ÿ™‚
