What You’ll Need
With just a handful of easy to find ingredients you can make cheesy pizza bread at home! Check the recipe card located at the bottom of my post for full instructions.
- Active Dry Yeast– active dry yeast is part of the dry ingredients that helps the dough rise. Find it in the baking section of the grocery store.
- Granulated Sugar– Just a tiny bit of sugar to give the slightest sweetness to the dough.
- All-Purpose Flour– The all-purpose flour is the main dry ingredient in homemade pizza dough.
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil– Extra virgin olive oil is part of the wet ingredients for the pizza dough.
- Kosher Salt– Kosher salt is a coarse salt. I prefer using it in my cooking and baking recipes.
- Garlic Salt– Garlic salt gives a nice seasoning to the cheesy pizza bread. Look for Lawry’s at your grocery store if it’s available.
- Shredded Cheddar Cheese– I use a mild cheddar cheese to top my pizza bread.
- Shredded Mozzarella Cheese– Mozzarella cheese on top of the pizza bread too.
How To Make Cheesy Pizza Bread
- Preheat Oven. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. and line pizza pan with parchment paper or spray with cooking spray.
- Prepare Yeast. Place warm water, yeast and sugar into mixer bowl. Have the dough hook attachment on. Mix gently and let nearly double in size, about 5 minutes.
- Prepare Pizza Dough. With mixer on low add flour, olive oil, salt and garlic salt. Scrape sides of bowl and let knead for 5 minutes until dough is cleaning sides of bowl. Add sprinkles of additional flour if it’s not. Remove dough with floured hands and transfer to a floured countertop. Fold dough over itself a couple times then form into a round.
- Place Pizza Dough Onto Pan. Place onto pizza pan and press into a 12 inch round, larger for a more thin crust. Brush with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic salt then top with cheeses.
- Bake for about 15 minutes, until crust is cooked through. Remove and let cool for 5 minutes before slicing into wedges. Serve with a salad if desired.
I use a pizza cutter and cut into squares instead of wedges, but either works. The squares are perfect for dipping in pizza sauce or just eating alone.

I absolutely LOVED this recipe! Because I’m not a fan of cheddar, I substituted with Italian 5-cheese blend and it was scrumptious. We ate every bite and I can’t wait to make it again. Thanks for posting this excellent recipe!
Hello! I can’t wait to try your homemade cheesy pizza bread! I just have one quick question. Does the dough need to rise at any point between making, and baking? ?
