Homemade Cheesy Pizza Bread

My Homemade Cheesy Pizza Bread has yet to disappoint! This popular appetizer is gooey, cheesy, and quick & easy to make. Perfect for pizza nights and all occasions.

Homemade Cheesy Pizza Bread

Is there anything better than soft cheesy pizza bread? According to my kids, there’s not. Every time I make this recipe it is gone in about 30 seconds and I wish I had doubled the recipe 🙂 Perfect fluffy soft crust that is hard to resist with warm melty cheese a little olive oil and garlic salt. To die for friends. Enjoy!

What You’ll Need

  • active dry yeast– active dry yeast is part of the dry ingredients that helps the dough rise. Find it in the baking section of the grocery store.
  • granulated sugar– Just a tiny bit of sugar to give the slightest sweetness to the dough.
  • all-purpose flour– The all-purpose flour is the main dry ingredient in homemade pizza dough.
  • extra virgin olive oil– Extra virgin olive oil is part of the wet ingredients for the pizza dough.
  • kosher salt– Kosher salt is a coarse salt. I prefer using it in my cooking and baking recipes.
  • garlic salt– Garlic salt gives a nice seasoning to the cheesy pizza bread. Look for Lawry’s at your grocery store if it’s available.
  • shredded cheddar cheese– I use a mild cheddar cheese to top my pizza bread.
  • shredded mozzarella cheese– Mozzarella cheese on top of the pizza bread too.

How To Make Cheesy Pizza Bread

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. and line pizza pan with parchment paper or spray with cooking spray.
  2. Place warm water, yeast and sugar into mixer bowl. Have the dough hook attachment on. Mix gently and let nearly double in size, about 5 minutes. With mixer on low add flour, olive oil, salt and garlic salt. Scrape sides of bowl and let knead for 5 minutes until dough is cleaning sides of bowl. Add sprinkles of additional flour if it’s not. Remove dough with floured hands and transfer to a floured countertop. Fold dough over itself a couple times then form into a round. Place onto pizza pan and press into a 12 inch round, larger for a more thin crust. Brush with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic salt then top with cheeses.
  3. Bake for about 15 minutes, until crust is cooked through. Remove and let cool for 5 minutes before slicing into wedges. Serve with a salad if desired.

pizza bread cut into squares

I use a pizza cutter and cut into squares instead of wedges, but either works. The squares are perfect for dipping in pizza sauce or just eating alone.

How To Serve Cheese Pizza

Serve pizza bread whenever you are having appetizers with family and friends. Works great during pizza night too. Serve with your favorite marinara sauce for dipping.

How To Store Leftovers

Store any leftover pizza bread in an airtight container for up to three days. Re-heat as needed.

I absolutely LOVED this recipe! Because I’m not a fan of cheddar, I substituted with Italian 5-cheese blend and it was scrumptious. We ate every bite and I can’t wait to make it again. Thanks for posting this excellent recipe!

Hello! I can’t wait to try your homemade cheesy pizza bread! I just have one quick question. Does the dough need to rise at any point between making, and baking? ?

I spent some time last weekend looking for cheesey breadstick recipes. I think they’d be perfect with tomato soup this fall. This recipe looks great!
