Sugar Dusted French Toast Donuts with Peanut Butter Syrup

“I Love you Mommy because you make the goodest donuts!”This is what my 3 year old said passionately while chewing a mouth full of my French toast donuts. This is one of the recipes that blossomed while strolling through Whole Foods a couple days ago.I’ve been wanting to try brioche bread for a while now and finally picked up a good looking loaf at my new favorite place to shop.Talk about melt in your mouth fantastic, it’s light and buttery, almost like little slices of cake.

My little guys are head over heels in love with this recipe and I have to admit so am I. The recipe is as easy as can be, full of fat and will have you singing it’s so good. PLEASE try to find the brioche, it’s key here. No skimping on the cream either. Go all out for this one, trust me it’s worth it.

Sugar Dusted French Toast Donuts with Peanut Butter Maple Syrup

2 Tablespoons butter

½ Cup heavy cream

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

2 eggs, beaten

3 Tablespoons light brown sugar

6 slices Brioche bread, cut into rounds with donut cutter if desired

6 Tablespoons sugar

½ Cup pure maple syrup (or normal pancake syrup if you don’t have the pure)

1 heaping Tablespoon peanut butter

1. Place butter into a large skillet over medium heat to melt. Place cream, vanilla, eggs and brown sugar into a mixing bowl. Whisk until well combined. Dip bread rounds into egg mixture until both sides are well coated and place into hot skillet. Cook for 1-2 minutes per side or until golden brown. Transfer to bowl of sugar and coat both sides in sugar. Place onto serving plate.

2. Warm maple syrup in microwave until warmed, about 30 seconds then stir in peanut butter until smooth. Pour over French toast donuts and enjoy!

Delish! Couldn’t find brioche in the 3 different places I tried so the baker suggested egg challah instead and this was fantabulous! I don’t even like french toast but would eat this every morning if I could 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
