Leave a comment and tell us all what makes a “winning” recipe in your house. What is it that catches your eye? Certain ingredients, quick and easy, homemade, semi homemade? You get the picture. We’d love to know!! I know for me, it has to be easy ingredients to pick up at the grocery store and fast to get on the dinner table!!
Just like the doughboy says, Hurry Contest ends Sunday, tomorrow the 23rd at midnight!! The 2 winners will be selected from those who are also following Picky Palate on THIS site, so make sure you re-follow if you haven’t done so!!!
Good luck folks!!
A winning recipe in our house is one that both my husband and I like. He’s a meat and veggies type person, and I’m a grains and fruit type person. It’s been a challenge to find recipes that compromise our tastes, but we’re doing pretty good.
A recipe is a winner in my house if my four year old asks to have it again! 🙂
I would say easy meals are best..with the least amount of ingredients! Unless we are talking about dessert..then it doesn’t matter easy or hard we don’t care we just love sugar 🙂
With a 2 year old, a full time job, and a husband’s unpredictable schedule… it’s all about TIME at our house! And if it can be made ahead of time (or even better yet, mass made, and thrown into the freezer) it’s even better.
If it’s a weeknight meal then it’s gotta be something easy with pantry staples. If it’s for a special occassion then a winning recipe has to look good 🙂
A winning recipe for me is something new and fun that I can impress my husband with! Sometimes easy, sometimes gourmet! I love trying new stuff!
We love fancy sandwiches with lots of ingredients. Each member can choose to add or leave off ingredients and then we grill them.
We’re simple southerners here so it has to be comforting and homey in order to be a winner.
The thing that is a hit in our house is food that can be picked up, like chicken legs, they are a favorite and if you catch them on sale, a very cheap dinner.
If my kids will eat it without being bribed, then it’s a winner in our house!
For me, a winning dish is something where I can find the ingredients in my local store and follow the recipe, or even tweak it a little, and it turns out great.
In our house, a “winning” recipe needs to be inexpensive and quick. My husband will eat ANYTHING!!!
To be a “winning” recipe in our household it has to taste good and be something quick and simple to make.
A winning recipe for us is one that taste good. Looks don’t really matter cause it all goes in one place anyway right?!? 🙂
We love comfort foods. Harty casseroles, simmering soups, lucisious desserts. I love cooking for th people I love. I think that’s the special ingredient every recipe needs.
I love something that’s quick and easy that the kids will like. I especially love it if I can assemble it ahead of time and bake it right before dinner or throw it in the crockpot.
For me, a winning recipe is one that you crave again and again.
A “winning recipe” for my family is primarily just one that I can get everyone to eat! (My husband is SUPER picky!!!) An added bonus is when the recipe calls for ingredients that you typically have on hand and one that is quick to make and economical!
Any recipe that catches my eye is one that I KNOW that the other 4 picky people in this house would LOVE! And it is a joyous occasion if the recipe is a ‘Keeper’! 🙂
Something that is quick and easy and that everyone likes!
A winner for me is basic homemade good food. I love to add fresh herbs to liven` things up!
A winning recipe is any recipe that has an EXTREME taste… “WOW that’s ____(fill in the blank)” Either really garlic-y, really sweet, really rich, really BBQ-ey, really tart, really fluffy, really moist, etc. Hope this makes sense 🙂 hehe.
For me personally, anything that is sweet is a recipe for me. If it weren’t for me being health conscious, I would eat dessert for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner!
Happy Baking,
Mini Baker 🙂
A winning recipe for me is something that I can make at the last minute to please a crowd, which includes something that I can make from basic ingredients I always have in my pantry. It has to be homemade, but can use store-bought ingredients if that simplifies things!
A winning recipe to me is one that is fool proof. I don’t consider myself a great cook so when there is a recipe I try and it actually turns out, it’s a keeper in my book!
I usually look for recipes with lots of veggies or a lot of color. I think that’s is the best way to add good flavor, add colorful vegetables.
I like recipes that are easy to make (and taste good), use few ingredients, and preferably don’t come from a box. Thanks for the giveaway!
A winning recipe in my home is one that my husband asks for over and over. So many of the recipes I make are soon forgotten, but the real “winners” are ones that we want to have again and again and really look forward to having!
Almost anything that is homemade is a winner in our house. The fresher the ingredients and the more “from scratch” something is, the better!
A winning recipe in our house is one that my husband and 2 year old love. Quick and easy always helps, but it is always satisfying to put a delicious homemade meal on the table for our family.
I look for recipes with ingredients I already like and mostly homemade. I know it is a winner if everyone is fighting over the leftovers for lunch the next day.
Winner is if everyone loves it.
A winning recipe is one that makes your tastebuds remember the different flavor “pops” in your mouth. After 34 years of marriage – I try new recipes all the time, hopefully adding new “pops” to help keep our marriage exciting!
I know a recipe is a “winner” in my house if my husband goes back for seconds. In the two and a half years we have been married, there have only been 2 dishes that I make that he loves enough to get more! Those winning dishes are on regular rotation in my weekly menus!
A winning recipe in my household is one that everyone will love and enjoy. A recipe that can put a smile on my family’s face, and a recipe that I can master with easy to find ingredients yet wow’s a crowd. Good Luck to everyone!

I usually look for either chicken, pork chops, or ground beef recipes. We’re also big on potatoes and cabbage. I prefer recipes that I can cook with my 4 year old, and are easy to prepare and clean up. I mostly prefer homemade and semi-homemade.
It’s all about taste for us– it doesn’t matter what it takes, as long as it tastes good we love it!
