Here are your ingredients. Nice and simple. That’s sugar in the measuring cup.

How To Make Buttermilk Syrup

  1. Place butter, sugar and eggnog into a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir until bubbly, about 3-5 minutes. Once bubbly add baking soda and vanilla stirring. Syrup will foam up doubling it’s size. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes stirring occasionally. Transfer to a serving dish. Drizzle over pancakes.

Can it be stored? If yes, than how : in the fridge or on the shelve? I love eggnog and would love to preserve it for a while in this beautiful delish way.:))))

Okay, so I was looking at the carton of eggnog a couple of days ago and wondering if I could make a caramel buttermilk syrup, but out of eggnog. Ponder no more! It can be done! And I think maybe it NEEDS to be done, stat. 🙂

Hello, this looks fab. Im hoping I can get eggnog in the UK supermarkets to make this. Once made, how long will it last for, unopened and opened?? Im thinking this would be nice in coffee too. 🙂

    1. Jenny

Hi Nicola, it lasts covered in the refrigerator for 3 or 4 days. It’s not as thick once reheated, but still delicious 🙂
