What You’ll Need
- butter– I use salted butter for most of my recipes, unsalted works just fine too.
- extra virgin olive oil– You’ll use olive oil to saute the onion, garlic and shrimp.
- onion– White onion finely minced.
- fresh minced garlic– Often times I use the minced garlic that’s sold in jars near the produce section of the grocery store.
- cooked shrimp– Check the fish department or frozen section of the grocery store for cooked shrimp. It cooks/warms up up nice and quick.
- lemon juice– Fresh lemon juice adds the perfect zest and freshness to the scampi.
- chicken broth– Get reduced sodium chicken broth for the recipe if possible.
- kosher salt– Kosher salt is a coarse salt used in cooking and baking.
- black pepper– Use freshly ground black pepper for best tasting results.
- linguini– Find dried linguini in the pasta isle of the grocery store near the spaghetti.
- fresh parsley– Fresh parsley adds freshness and color to the pasta.
- fresh chives– Fresh chives add a nice onion flavor and color to the pasta.
How To Make Easy Shrimp Scampi Recipe
- Place butter and olive oil into a large 5 qt skillet or other large pot over medium heat. Once melted and hot sauté onion for 3-5 minutes until softened. Stir in garlic for 60 seconds then stir in shrimp. Season with salt and pepper and cook 4-6 minutes or until pink and firm and cooked through. Stir in lemon juice and chicken broth. Reduce heat to low and set aside.
- Cook pasta according to package directions, drain and stir into shrimp. Stir in 2 Tablespoons butter, parsley and chives. Serve and enjoy!
How To Serve
Serve pasta warm for any dinner occasion where seafood is preferred.
How To Store Leftovers
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. Reheat as needed.
Recipe Tips For Success
- Biggest tip is be careful to not overcook the pasta. Check the pasta two minutes before the package suggests. Once it’s al dente drain immediately.
- Make sure the shrimp is deveined. You can purchase shrimp that is already deveined, it will specify on the package.
- Fresh lemon juice makes a big difference. Avoid using the lemon juice you can purchase that’s already juiced.

Is there any benefit to drying the salmon longer in a fridge for, say 24 hours? What could it do to the flavor and texture?

Your blog has recipes that I’d easily make for my family (3 kids, ages 4 – 9). Your food and recipes are awesome, and your pics are great, too. I rarely leave comments, but wanted to tell you how much I love your blog.

I’m from Louisiana and I make a very similar scampi dish…here’s a fun twist on it. Throw in a little heavy cream, and you’ve got yourself a nice, creamy buttery sauce. If ya prefer the creamy kind, that is! It’s verrrry tasty!
Wambulance!!! LOL! That one pulls up to my house everytime I make biscotti! Kurt thinks they’re “dog bisquits”!

Shrimp Scampi, my brother, sister, and Dad would love this! It looks delicious, but sadly, I am not a shrimp fan. 🙂
Oh shrimp! Be still my heart. I ♥ shrimp in any form. I am going to try this one as soon as I can muster swallowing the crazy price for seafood. Happy Memorial Day and have a fun no cooking weekend.
