  2. Jennine

My teens are so famished when they get home from school, I make them a warm peanutbutter, fluff and banana panini…it’s a sure way to stay full until dinner time.

  3. Lauren

I don’t have kids yet, but I’m a teacher that loves to make snacks with her students. One of my favorites is Apple Smiles. Spread two apple slices with peanut butter then sandwich them together with mini marshmallows in between. So cute and fun!

  4. Sarah

I don’t have kids, but when I was in high school and middle school, I used to make myself some chocolate milk or hot chocolate and peanut butter/chocolate chips on celery or graham crackers. The chocolate chips really make it ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. jennifer h

we love to make chocolate chips cookies together. he sits on the counter and puts all the ingredients into the mixer and waits and waits until i pull the paddle out so he can lick it and of course munch on some warm cookies when they come out of the oven

  6. Nicki Kirk

My kids love ants on a raft–AKA cinnamon graham crackers, smeared with chunky peanut butter and topped with lots of raisins. They also love chocolate peanut butter s’mores! They consider both of these, special after school treats because they usually get fruit and/or veggies.
Thanks for the chance to win such an awesome giveaway! ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Susan

I get home from work the same time the kids get off the bus – so our favorite before-school-treat is mini chocolate chip pumpkin muffins. It has become a tradition for the first day of school and many more mornings, especially in the fall.

  8. Well…seeing as how I don’t have any kids yet, I guess I could tell you what my favorite treat was when I would come home from school. I loved when my mom made rice krispie treats.

  9. Crystal

My daughter and I like to make Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies and we like to try different recipes for Banana Bread.

  10. Jenn Ciniello

My favorite after school snack is absolutely toll house cookies! My kids and I love to make them together, and we love the cookies (if I can keep them from eating all the cookie dough!)

  11. Laura in Portland

Probably the favorite after-school snack around here is “apple smiles”: two apple slices with peanut butter spread on the sides and marshmallows stuck between them, like teeth.

  12. well, i dont have a child but i do have a boyfriend, thats practically the same thing right? and when i decide to be nice and bake for him i like to surprise him with cinnamon rolls!

  13. Janell

My oldest in just in preschool so we don’t really get into the after school snacks, but for sure we’re fans of cookies in the afternoon or cheese and crackers.

  14. Jill

We are usually in a hurry so we grab cheese or beef sticks. They are quick and pack in some protein to make it to supper.

  15. Sarah

Oh, it’s got to be brownies–hands down! I make cupcakes and cookies sometimes–chocolate chip being the favorite all around–but when I make brownies from scratch with the Nestle Baking Powder, holy cow, the girls are screaming that they can smell them down the street when they get home from school!!! And, as you know, having your kidlets all excited about what you’ve baked is just about the best thing ever!

  16. Gia

I know it’s not very original, but I love to make the kids freshly baked, warm from the oven cookies. They always tell me I’m awesome! ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. Amy

I’ve liked you on facebook before so I wasn’t sure if I needed to again but I went ahead and liked you again! Love your blog!

  18. By the time my girls get home from school, it’s close to dinner time so usually there are no after school snacks. But many times there is a special dessert treat….homemade cookies, brownies, cupcakes that they get to enjoy after dinner.

  19. Megan Dinsdale

Well, considering my kids aren’t in school yet (I WISH!) our favorite snack are apples and string cheese. Guess I don’t ‘make’ it though. Hmmmm….

  20. Kim

Cookies, muffins or cupcakes, plain ‘ol loaf cake… it doesn’t matter. Just as long as the smell is in the air as the front door open and the snacks are still warm!
(For me, I’d be pretty pleased if I got an announcement that we’re skipping dinner altogether and saving all the calories for dessert, to be promptly presented by a fully-decked-out, all-the-trimmings ice cream sundae :D)

  21. Lori K.

I like to bake cookies for after school. Although in this heat we’ve had in California lately, it’s been fruit instead.

  22. We homeschool so really there’s not an “after-school” snack, but I do remember that when I was in school I loved coming home and either having biscuits and jam or popcorn.

  23. Lori B

My kids don’t usually snack because we have to eat so early to get to practices! But we love cookies and have been baking everyone one you’ve listed so far! My kids loved the smores and I loved the white choc., blueberry and caramel ones!

  24. My little girl is about to turn one, so we don’t have “after school”snacks yet, but my favorite ones as a child were no bake cookies with my mom, and “ants on a log” [celery, pb, and raisins] with my dad! I can’t wait to make them with her. :]

  25. Kelly S.

I love to make cookies hot out of the oven for a special treat, but on a normal day it is a healthy snack like apples and peanut butter.

  26. Julie

I have always made my children Triple Chocolate chip cookies on the first day of school. They’re huge cookies (made with an ice cream scoop) full of semi-sweet and milk chocolate chips, and Heath bits with milk chocolate. They love them and are a special treat!

  27. My favorite thing to make with my daughter (even though she’s not old enough for school yet) is Peanut Butter Granola Balls! You can really add anything you want to them and they are so good!

  28. Sharie

….I follow you on fb too!
PS – I like to make a variety snack tray. For instance, in a divided dish i’ll put fish crackers, grapes and baby carrots.

  29. Sharie

I came home one day to my girls making chocolate chip cookies all on their own (never happened before). I would love to give this kit to them to reward their efforts!
Their dad always eats the chocolate chips (nicknamed: Turkey’s) before they can get to them.

  30. susitravl

My kids like Tollhouse Cookies, apples with caramel dip or chips with French Onion Dip for after school snacks. And Pizza Rolls…..they are teenagers.

  38. Becky S

We like making mini cookie hamburgers out of 2 vanilla cookies with a chocolate one on the middle and strawberry sauce inside.

  39. I love to make up a batch of chocolate chip cookie dough (with craisins & pecans added to the dough), scoop them onto a parchemnt lined baking sheet, freeze them (uncovered), and when frozen completely, dump them into a freezer bag, then keep them frozen so that I can bake them-fresh daily as needed for after school or anytime snacks. This is especially great in cooler/cold weather.

  46. RaKell

I love to make any kind of cookies when I am not working, but my favorite is my Dad picks my son up for me sometimes and he always makes him a PB&J.

  47. I’ve only got one day of school under my belt so I don’t know what snack I like to make for my daughter after school. Usually if she wants a snack, it’s a piece of Dove Chocolate promises. Yeah, just one piece. It’s times like that when I wonder if she is mine. I’ve never been able to eat 1 piece of chocolate…ever. Let alone be satisfied with a single piece of candy for a snack.

  48. Janelle

My daughter is only two years old, so I haven’t really thought about after-school snacks yet, and won’t have to for a couple of years still.

  49. Karen

My favorite thing to make is chocolate chip cookies….always has been and probably always will be. They were sent to my husband when he was in the military, for bake sales, and after school treats. Nothing better.

  50. Jessica

  59. jackie

My little one is only 2 so he doesn’t go to school BUT when he comes back from hourly daycare I loooove to make him mini pizzas, his fav. or mini cookies! He gets to help mix everything together and scoop onto the pan!

  60. All my kids are now teens or older, but when they were little I always *tried* to have something healthy when they came home from school. BUT…they were happiest if there were Magic Cookie Bars aka 7 Layer Cookies waiting on the counter ๐Ÿ™‚

  73. Lori Finch

Rice Krispie squares are perfect snack….I remember my grandma making them for me when I was in kindergarten. Always looked forward to coming home to them! Chocolate chip cookies rule, but there was something special about Grandma’s squares. I still get nostalgic when I smell them.

  74. Leigh

My kids chose Pop-Tarts. We don’t eat them for breakfast, we have a no-sugar-for-breakfast rule. So after school is the only time they get to eat them. But I like to give them warm peanuts they have to crack open! Make them work for it!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  75. Frozen bananas in the blender with some milk, vanilla and cocoa powder. You can make it as thick or runny as you like. It’s so yummy! My boys and I love it!

  76. Nickole

I have 4 sons and the latest crave is pumpkin chocolate chip mini muffins covered in cream cheese frosting. Easy to make, plus I cut out a bunch of the sugar and fat and the boys never noticed. They (and their friends) will go through about 50 in 5 min.

Chocolate chip cookes are a given, but I also like to make fresh homemade bread (right out of the oven) or cinnamon toast.

  86. Rene Taubensee

Having boys ages 10-14 snacks have changed quite a bit! Now it is usually a wrap with salami, pepperoni, and ham with a little pesto for a punch of flavor. We save the cookies for snuggling on the couch before bed with a book to read out loud.

  87. Sue

My kids are all out of school but when they were younger they used to like cookies or a bowl of cereal. This year I will be picking up my granddaughter from preschool and she loves cookies and milk or fruit snacks.
