New Sara Lee Cookbook Giveaway, 3 Winners!

Hey everyone, check out this great new cookbook up for grabs to 3 lucky Picky Palate readers by Sara Lee. I have spent the last few days flipping through the book and it is incredible! It’s a beautiful hardcover cookbook, full of great photography and health conscious recipes. Here’s some info on the book:

Sara Lee
is partnering with The Heart Truth Campaign to raise awareness of heart disease among women and encourage them to make heart healthy food choices every day to take care of their bodies and their families. One of the best things a mom can do for her family is take care of herself. One of the easiest ways to take care of herself is to establish a heart healthy eating routine.

Here’s how to enter: Leave a comment and tell us all what your favorite healthy snack is. Fruit, veggi’s or whatever you can enjoy that’s healthy, let us know!

Contest ends Sunday night, midnight PST. I’ll post the 3 random winners first thing Monday morning.

    My favorite snack is Roasted Garlic Hummus. At times I eat so much that I start smelling like garlic and my husband knows what I’ve been snacking on.

    For a healthy snack we like to toast half of an english muffin, top with a slice of tomato, avacado and mozzerella cheese. melt the cheese slightly and you have a healthy and very tasty snack!

    My kids and I love to eat grapefruit for a snack. They love to eat it for a snack before bedtime. I like to eat almonds. I keep them in my purse.

    Fruit. I LOVE FRUIT! Cherries, mangoes, pineapple, kiwi, papaya, bananas, grapes. I could eat a fruit salad morning, noon, and night. Drizzle with a little honey… Yummmmm!!!!

    Right now I’m into the nonfat greek yogurt. Just stir fruit into it, flaxseed, or low fat granola. Yum.

    It’s too hard to pick one, so I’ll say grapefruit, string cheese, and apples with peanut butter. I also LOVE the Skinny Cow ice cream bars, which are low in fat and calories for those of us with a killer sweet-tooth. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Chilled homemade salsa, delicious at any time of the day/night! It never lasts long in our house AND it’s healthy. And when we have a sweet tooth, we make fruit salsa with cinnamon tortilla chips. Yummy yum yum!

    This is what I totally enjoy, although I haven’t named it. You get the pouch tuna flavored smoked salmon add only the whites of boiled eggs and mix in sliced celery. Add some mustard and salt and pepper (maybe a dash of vinegar), mix up well and wrap it in lettuce. I totally love it. Thanks

    Apple slices dipped in yogurt dip. The best yogurt dip I make is plain yogurt(light) and mix in some cinnamon as much as you like. Dip fruit slices as you like but my fav is apple slices.

    Vanilla yogurt with granola and bananas sliced on top or fruit smoothies made from frozen fruit or canned and vanilla yogurt. Both are quick and easy!

    My favorite healthy treat is frozen red grapes (Costco has the best grapes!). They are really good at curing that sweet tooth!

    Our favorite snack in our house is Granny Smith apples with peanut butter. You get the great sweet/tart taste and crispness of the apples, with the savory taste of the peanut butter. A little carb, protein, and fat all rolled into one. It’s amazing at curbing those awful cravings!

    Hmmm…I have many, but I love Laughing Cow cheese(the onion flavored one is the best)!!! I usually eat it with either an apple or a serving of crackers or pretzel crisps.

    I try to eat an apple and/or blueberries every day. Both have great health benefits. An apple with a little peanut butter or plain yogurt with blueberries and a little Xagave are delicious and nutritious.

    I am mostly traveling in my car during snack time, so this can be challenging. I make home made granola, and pack it a snack size bag, a travel size bag of carrots are another favorite of mine. I am a hugh fan of fruit- apples and peaches! I can leave these on the drivers’s side seat and eat them while driving home to get my kids. Ease of eating a snack is key for me. The list of snacks for the kids will have to be a different email! Hahahah..this is about my favorite things ๐Ÿ™‚

    I love fruit, cool and crisp. Melon with a little salt sprinkled over it to bring out the sugar of the fruit.
    Popsicles especially the rocket red, white and blue. I always wanted them growing up but with 7 kiddos in the family it was a luxury.

    Cucumber spears sprinkled with Spike, smoothies made with light soy milk,frozen berries and raspberry yogurt, peanut butter whipped up with some water makes a great dip /spread for carrots, apples etc.

    I’ve always loved apples with peanut butter. It’s not always healthy (such as when I use more pb than apple!) but when I limit it to the serving size recommended, it’s a healthy way to get fruit and protein together. And delicious!

    Oh I have so many favorites. I am a big fruit eater and could live off of Watermelon and apples if possible.

    I recently have started to munch on Special K crackers. 17 crackers for 90 calories…not bad. And if I am adventurous I add a wedge of Light Laughing Cow Cheese (Garlic and Herb). AMAZING…it is a perfect afternoon snack to curb the afternoon munchies.

    I love that you can put fresh spinach in almost anything without altering the taste. My favorite healthy snack is a mixed berry smoothie with spinach and flax seed and a banana for the sweetener. Healthy but delicious!

    Well, we love alot of healthy snacks around here. I am not too big on unhealthy snacks, actually. Chips just don’t do it for me. One thing my kids and I love is to mix cottage cheese with ranch mix and eat it on whole grain crackers.
