What You’ll Need
- all-purpose flour– All purpose flour is the main dry ingredient for brownies.
- kosher salt– Kosher salt is a coarse salt. I prefer using it in my cooking and baking.
- unsweetened cocoa powder– I prefer Hershey’s Special Dark if you can find it.
- salted butter– I generally use salted butter for my cooking and baking.
- dark brown sugar– You’ll see light and brown sugar available in the brown sugar section. I like the dark brown sugar for these brownies.
- granulated sugar- Granulated sugar is a fine sugar commonly used in cookies, brownies and cakes.
- canola oil– Canola oil is part of the wet ingredients for the brownie recipe.
- large eggs– For consistency, I use large eggs for all of my cooking and baking.
- pure vanilla extract– For best tasting results use pure vanilla extract.
- chocolate chips– Use your favorite chocolate chips, I use milk or semi-sweet.
- Nutella– Find Nutella near the peanut butter and jelly at the grocery store. It’s a chocolate hazelnut spread that is especially delicious with brownies.
How To Make Nutella Brownie Recipe
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. and line an 8 x 8 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
- Place flour, cocoa powder and salt in a large mixing bowl, stir to combine. Place hot melted butter, oil, and sugars into a medium mixing bowl. Whisk until well combined, a good minute. Stir in eggs and vanilla, whisking another 2 minutes. Slowly stir wet ingredients into the dry ingredient bowl, gently stirring just until batter forms. Fold in chocolate chips and transfer half of the batter to baking dish. Spread evenly and top with cookie scoop fulls of Nutella evenly over top. Take an offset spatula and spread evenly. Top with remaining brownie batter, spreading evenly. Bake for 28-30 minutes, until baked through. Remove from oven and let cool for at least 1 hour before cutting into squares. Serve room temperature or warmed with a scoop of ice cream.
Once dry ingredients have been combined and wet ingredients as well, pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients bowl, stirring until batter forms.
Stir in chocolate chips. I used milk chocolate chips, but any variety you prefer works great.
Transfer half of the brownie batter into the baking dish and top evenly with scoops of Nutella over top of batter.
Spread Nutella evenly over top. Using an offset spatula works great.
Top with remaining brownie batter and use offset spatula to spread evenly working from the center out.
Once the batter has been spread, bake at 375 degrees F. for 28-30 minutes, until baked through. Use a toothpick to check doneness in center.
Let brownies cool for an hour before cutting into squares.
The gooey factor with the Nutella is out of control. Such a great brownie.

Mouth-watering recipe! I will try this over the weekend.
And some juices placed in mason jars to have an aesthetic snack time.
I see at the picture part you said bake at 375 degrees. In the recipe part at the bottom you say 350. Which is it? At 350 it isn’t done at 40 something minutes
350 degrees F. I’ll go edit the photo.
I added kinder bars to the middle , every one at work and my family loved these!
Hi , wondering why you are using salted butter? 😀
Hi there, I prefer salted butter, but you can certainly use unsalted if you’d like.
Would doubling this recipe for a bigger batch be okay?
Hi Hannah, I think it would be just fine to double it and bake in a 9 x 13 inch pan. Watch bake time around 30 minutes.
