Ingredients You’ll Need
Here are the ingredients you’ll need to make cinnamon roll waffles at home. See the recipe card located at the bottom of the post for full details and instructions.
- refrigerated canned cinnamon rolls, 5 count with icing- Find canned cinnamon rolls in the refrigerated section of your grocery store near the other canned biscuits and crescent rolls. The rolls are uncooked, so once you open the container, you’ll separate each dough roll to prepare to be cooked in the waffle maker.
- salted butter– You’ll use salted butter melted to dip both sides of your cooked waffles before sprinkling with cinnamon sugar. If you only have unsalted butter on hand, that will work just fine as well.
- granulated sugar– You will mix the granulated sugar with the cinnamon for the churro topping. Granulated sugar is fine, works great for baking and for this churro topping.
- ground cinnamon– Find ground cinnamon in the spices section of your grocery store. It’s got a nice spice perfect for these waffles.
How To Make Cinnamon Rolls In Waffle Maker
- Preheat waffle iron, making sure it’s hot before cooking.
- Melt butter in a heat proof bowl in the microwave for about 60 seconds, or until melted. Remove, stir butter and place bowl close to waffle iron.
- Prepare Cinnamon Sugar. Place sugar and cinnamon into a medium size shallow bowl, stirring to combine. Place bowl close to melted butter and waffle iron.
- Carefully open can of cinnamon rolls, separating each roll onto a plate near waffle iron. Remove icing and massage to loosen. Set aside for later.
- Spray waffle iron lightly with cooking spray for each cinnamon roll waffle. Place one cinnamon roll at a time into waffle maker. Close lid and let cook. Each waffle maker will be slightly different, so check doneness after about 1 minute. Rolls should be golden brown and cooked through. When done, remove rolls and carefully dip each side into melted butter, then dip/sprinkle each side with cinnamon sugar mixture. Drizzle each waffle with icing and serve warm.
What Are Dessert Waffles?
Dessert waffles are basically waffles that you enjoy for dessert. In many instances they are sweeter than your typical breakfast waffles. Dessert waffles tend to have sweet toppings such as chocolate, ice cream, caramel sauce, etc. There are many ways you can enjoy desert waffles with countless sweet topping ideas. My Churro Style Cinnamon Roll Waffles I’m sharing today are definitely in the dessert waffle category.
How To Use A Waffle Maker
Each waffle maker brand and style will have its own set of instructions, so make sure you are familiar with your waffle maker before making any waffle recipe. It’s important to make sure you can preheat your waffle maker before cooking the waffles. It will be important to know how long each waffle will take to cook. Sometimes that takes making a few waffles to get an idea of timing. Once you get familiar with your waffle maker, making waffles is simple and such a treat to enjoy with your family and friends.
Once waffle is cooked through in the waffle maker, carefully remove and dip both sides generously in the melted butter. Next, press both sides of the waffle in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Place waffle onto a serving plate then drizzle with icing that came with the cinnamon rolls. Note, I had plenty of icing for all five waffles.
What Kind of Waffle Maker Should I Use?
When shopping for a waffle maker, you’ll see many options. There are waffle makers of many price points, some low and some high. I would recommend deciding how often you plan on using your waffle maker to help choose the waffle maker that will fit your needs. I’ve had a Kitchen Aid Double Waffle Baker for many years that has been amazing. Do some research online, read some reviews and decide which waffle maker will be best for your family.
