What You’ll Need

  • loaf of brioche– Find brioche bread in the bakery section of most grocery stores. If you can’t find it, you can use Italian or French bread too.
  • large eggs– For consistency, I use large eggs for my cooking and baking.
  • heavy whipping cream– Heavy whipping cream is used to make the egg base that gets added to the bread pieces.
  • brown sugar– Brown sugar gives the cinnamon roll sweetness.
  • ground cinnamon– Cinnamon is the perfect spice used for cinnamon roll recipes.
  • pure vanilla extract– For best tasting results, use pure vanilla.
  • kosher salt– Kosher salt is a coarse salt commonly used in cooking and baking.
  • melted butter– For most of my recipes I use salted butter, unsalted is fine too.
  • cream cheese, softened– Use full fat cream cheese for the recipe. It’s used to make the frosting.
  • powdered sugar– Also called confectioners sugar, this fine sugar is used to make the frosting.
  • milk– I use 2% milk, it’s used in the frosting.

How To Make Cinnamon Roll French Toast Bake

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. and lightly spray 9×13 inch baking dish with non stick cooking spray.
  2. Place cubed bread. Place eggs, heavy cream, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt into a large bowl, whisk to combine. Pour evenly over bread mixture. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon into a small bowl and sprinkle over top of bread/egg mixture. Drizzle evenly with melted butter. At this step you can cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. Remove and let thaw to room temperature before baking. When ready to bake, bake for 35-40 minutes or until set. Remove and let cool for 10 minutes before drizzling with icing. To make cream cheese icing, place cream cheese, powdered sugar and milk into a large mixing bowl. Whisk gently until smooth and creamy. Drizzle over top of French Toast Bake and cut into squares to serve.

Can I Substitute Brioche For Another Bread?

Yes, you can use cubed French Bread, croissants and even canned cinnamon rolls or biscuits in place of the brioche if you’d like.

This is one of my favorite dishes. I’ve read some recipes of this dish and here is the best one to me. However, is it ok if I use white sugar as a substitute for brown sugar? Is the taste still good? Thank you.
