my favorite soup is chicken tortilla soup-with lots of big chunks of chicken, corn, black beans, and tortillas. Oh and hunks of avocado on top! And cheese. Yummy! I am hungry just thinking about it.

  3. Molly

My family loves my cheese tortellini soup. It is basically just tortellini, chicken broth and vegetables, but it is very good on a cool fall night! Thanks for the neat website!

Grilled corn and chipotle soup. We used to have a Blue Corn Cafe here in Albuquerque that served the BEST. But now I have to go to Santa Fe if I want some. Hard with two kids under three, but well worth it!

  9. Meal Makeover Mom

Jenny, terrific blog! Your contest is so timely … just yesterday, my 10-year old son said “I’m addicted to soup!” On my website, http://www.MealMakeoverMoms.com, I have a section on healthy, kid-friendly soup recipes. I’d have to say that my family’s favorite is the A-Plus Alphabet Soup. http://www.mealmakeovermoms.com/recipes/slow-cooker-soups/a-plus-alphabet-soup/
In fact, I’ll be dishing about that recipe and a few others on my Nov. 5th radio podcast, Cooking With the Moms!! I hope you’ll listen in …

  10. creativecarryout

I’d have to say I enjoy old fashioned chicken noodle soup the best. I’d make it a lot more often if I could get my family to enjoy it too!

  11. shelley

Chicken Tortilla by far-I love the cream based ones, but unfortunately dont make them as often as the broth because of the fattening factor-I bet you could make a yummy one that wasnt too bad for you…hint, hint

  12. The Shulls

I love Potato Soup and cazuela de pollo (chilean). My husband loves Chicken Soup with lentils and barley from Better Homes and Gardens New cook Book.

Can’t wait to see the soups you’ll be making!! Yumm!!

  13. Lalycairn

Favorite home made soup is a tie between Minstrone and chicken with barley. Of course, there is always split pea and ham, and scotch broth. Ugh, I can’t choose, I love soup in the winter.
When I’m out, I’m a big fan of chicken tortilla or cream of mushroom (not the in a can kind, the really good kind like Mushroom and brie or something along those lines)

  14. Alycat

My favorite is Chili’s Chicken Enchilada Soup. And I could really go for those ice cream molds!!!

Fun! I love the ice cream molds. My favorite soup is the creamy squash soup I just posted about on my blog a couple of weeks ago. Seriously it was SO good. At Williams Sonoma this weekend their cooking demonstration is on Fall Soups and I am really excited about it!

  18. Chelsie

i’d have to say that the classic chicken noodle with the extra healthy egg noodles are my fave…mm i could use a good recipe for that too…then I would stop buying costco’s. 🙂

  19. Jacob & Angie

My favorite soup would have to be broccoli cheese soup. I can’t wait to see all your soup posts…I need some good ones.
    THanks!!

  20. Spectacular Six

My favorite soup is a cheesy potato soup. It is super easy to make and even has bacon…. couldn’t get better than that!

I see there are other Chicken Tortilla soup fans out there but this one is the best.

    3-4 Chicken breast halves
1 15 oz can black beans, undrained
2 15 oz cans Mexican stewed tomatoes or Rotel tomatoes
    1 Cup salsa
1 4 oz can chopped green chilies
1 14 oz can tomato sauce
    Tortilla chips
    2 cups grated cheese
    1 Avacado

    1. Combine all ingredients except chips, cheese and avacado in large slow cooker.
    2. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours.
    3. Just before serving, remove chicken breasts and slice into bite-sized pieces. Stir into soup.
    4. To serve, put a handful of chips in each individual soup bowl. Ladle soup over chips. Top with cheese and cubed avacado pieces.
