Back in August I had the opportunity to visit the Nutrilite Center for Optimal Health in Buena Park, California for a health and nutrition event hosted by Amway.
I was also there with Amanda from Kevin and Amanda, Emily from Busy Mommy, and Lori from 24/7 Moms for a comprehensive health assessment to determine the best health management program for our genetic type. I have to admit, I was a bit nervous because the first thing we had to do get our blood drawn. I’m sure I turned white as a ghost, but I am happy to say that I did just fine 🙂
After we got our blood drawn, we proceeded with our blood pressure taken, and an ultrasound done on our carotid artery to monitor plaque build up. Then we moved on to a bone density test, flexibility test, physical fitness tests to determine cardio and core strength, and a body fat percentage test. For the record I have never liked the body fat test, especially since I have been a food blogger, lol! Finally we took a DNA swab that will tell us how to manage our best health and weight management.
We all did great then it was off for a quaint lunch with Kurt Warner who is the new Spokesperson for Nutrilite.
Kurt is a huge fan of the Nutrilite products and told us about his experience, and you know there was Dancing With The Stars Talk 🙂 It was fun to get to talk with him and learn about his busy family. His wife has a book coming out called One Call Away. I am looking forward to reading about her story.
I received my health analysis back from the Dr. and to no surprise to maintain my optimal health and weight, I need to reduce my carbs and exercise with higher intensity. Not so much of a surprise but I was grateful to get all the details to help me understand my genetic make up.

No, we don’t currently take vitamins but we should. I have low iron…like most women of the world. 😉
My whole family takes vitamins!
My husband and I both take vitamins, but off and on. He’s better about it than I am. I hate pills, which I already have to take anyway for a medication that I’m on, so the last thing I want to do is follow them with a horsepill. To make up for it, I keep a mostly vegan diet, sometimes raw depending in the season, and I eat mostly gluten-free, which pushes me to eat more nutrient-dense food. I also have a green smoothie everyday. When we saw juicers on sale at Macys this past Labor Day, my husband and I jumped on buying one, and it’s been one of our best purchases. We use it at least once a day, and juicing has even become a special bonding time where we go through our fridge and figure out what fun drinks we can make out of the produce we have. I take my Omegas and a B12 supplement, sometimes iron, depending on how I’m feeling, but I would like to get better at taking daily vitamins. Even though I keep a nutritious diet, having a multivitamin in you is a nice backup in case your food (or juice) intake is lagging that day.

YES – everyone in our house takes multi-vitamins – JuicePlus gummies + omega 3 DHA for the kids and a multi (plus several supplements) for the hubbie & I
Wouldn’t dare go without our vitamins, we’re just not that great at getting all the nutrition we need.
