This time of year is all about pumpkin baking! My pumpkin chocolate chip bread is perfect for having around the house for snacking. It’s great for gift giving to neighbors and friends too.

Ingredients Needed For Pumpkin Bread
- salted butter– I generally use salted butter in my cooking and baking recipes, but unsalted butter works just fine here too.
- granulated sugar– This fine sugar helps sweeten the pumpkin bread.
- light brown sugar– When shopping for brown sugar, you’ll see light and dark brown sugar available. Either work just fine in this recipe.
- large eggs– To keep consistent in my baking, I use large eggs in my recipes.
- pure vanilla extract– For best tasting results, make sure your vanilla is pure vanilla.
- pumpkin puree– Make sure when shopping for pumpkin puree, the can doesn’t say pumpkin pie filling. Should just be pure pumpkin puree.
- all purpose flour– The all-purpose flour is the main dry ingredient in the bread.
- ground cinnamon– Ground cinnamon pairs so lovely with pumpkin desserts. Find it in the spices section of the grocery store.
- baking soda- Baking soda helps the bread rise when baking.
- kosher salt– Kosher salt is a coarse salt. I prefer using kosher salt in my cooking and baking.
- mini chocolate chips– Mini chips can often times be found in the chocolate chip section of the grocery store. If you can’t find them, regular chocolate chips work fine too.
How To Make Pumpkin Bread Recipe
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. and spray a large loaf pan with cooking spray.
- Place butter and sugar into a large mixing bowl. Mix until well combined. Add eggs and vanilla, beating until well combined.
- Stir in pumpkin puree until combined. Add flour, cinnamon, soda, salt and chips. Stir until combined.
- Transfer batter to loaf pan and top with a small handful of more mini chocolate chips. Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until bread is baked through.
- Check center with toothpick before removing. Let bread completely cool before transferring and cutting into slices.
Prepare wet ingredients first. Add pumpkin puree to the mixture.
Dry ingredients go in next.
Mini chocolate chips into the batter. Regular size chocolate chips work just fine too.
Transfer batter to large loaf pan that’s been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.
Before baking pumpkin bread, top with additional chocolate chips.
Bake for 55-60 minutes, until bread is cooked through. Use a toothpick or skewer to check center before removing.
Let bread cool completely before transferring to serving dish.
How To Serve Pumpkin Bread
Slice bread into 1 inch slices and serve room temperature, warmed or chilled. A side of fresh fruit is a great pairing option.
Can I Freeze Pumpkin Bread?
Yes, when bread is completely cooled, place bread/slices into an airtight container and freeze for up to 3 months. Bring to room temperature before serving.

Can this be made into muffins?
Yes, I think the recipe would be just fine as muffins, I would check baking time starting at 17 minutes then adjust as needed.
