Air Fryer Asparagus Recipe

Asparagus in the air fryer tastes just like oven roasted asparagus without the extra work and calories! With the air fryer, you use minimal oil and they turn out perfectly crisp and tender packed with flavor. What You’ll Need

Air Fryer Asparagus only needs a few ingredients and just minutes to cook! Let’s take a look at what you’ll need. For full details see recipe card at bottom of post.

  • Asparagus– Find fresh asparagus in the produce department. Use fresh asparagus only.
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil– You will use just a little bit of olive oil to drizzle over the asparagus.
  • Salt– I use kosher salt which is a coarse salt.
  • Pepper– For best results, use freshly ground black pepper.
  • Garlic Salt– Lawry’s Garlic Salt is my favorite.
  • Shredded Parmesan Cheese– When asparagus comes out of the air fryer, I sprinkle with shredded or grated Parmesan Cheese.

How To Trim Asparagus

  • The best way to trim asparagus is to use a chef’s knife and cutting board. Line up all the spears in a row and slice off the ends simultaneously. It would be best to cut right where the stalks turn from white to green.

How To Cook Asparagus In Air Fryer

Cooking this asparagus recipe could not be more simple. It comes out crispy and tender in the air fryer!

  1. Trim Asparagus. Before getting starting, wash the asparagus and trim ends.
  2. Preheat Air Fryer to 400 degrees F.
  3. Drizzle With Olive Oil. Place asparagus into a shallow dish and drizzle with olive oil, just a little bit.
  4. Add Seasonings. Sprinkle asparagus with salt, pepper and garlic salt.

How Long To Cook Asparagus In Air Fryer

5. Add Asparagus To Air Fryer. Place seasoned asparagus into air fryer basket. Make sure it’s in a single layer.

6. Cook. Cook air fryer asparagus at 400 degrees F. for 7-9 minutes. Asparagus should be fork tender and slightly crisp.

7. Serve. Remove cooked asparagus from air fryer and transfer to a serving plate. Sprinkle with Parmesan Cheese and serve immediately.

Recipe Tips and Variations

  • Fresh Asparagus. Use Fresh asparagus and trim edges before cooking.
  • Asparagus Sizing. It’s important to note that larger stalks of asparagus will take a bit longer to cook than smaller or more thin stalks. Test doneness with a fork and the asparagus should be fork tender.
  • Different Seasonings. Play around with different seasonings. Fresh lemon juice is delicious squeezed on top. Paprika is great sprinkled on top as well as cajun seasoning.

How To Serve

Serve air fryer asparagus warm very soon after it comes out of the air fryer. It makes the perfect side dish to your main dishes. I like to cut it up into pieces and add it to my favorite pasta recipes too!

  • Refrigerator. Store leftover asparagus in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Freezing Instructions. For best results freeze leftover asparagus in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
  • Reheating Instructions. Reheat refrigerated asparagus in the air fryer. Cook at 400 degrees F. for 3 minutes or until hot. Reheat frozen asparagus in the air fryer as well. Cook at 400 degrees F. for 4-5 minutes until hot and crisp.
