What You’ll Need

  • salted butter, softened– For most of my recipes I use salted butter. Unsalted works too.
  • light or dark brown sugar– This cookie recipe can use light or dark brown sugar.
  • granulated sugar– This fine white sugar adds sweetness to the cookie.
  • beaten egg– For consistency, I use large eggs in my cooking and baking.
  • pure vanilla extract– Use pure vanilla extract for best tasting results.
  • all-purpose flour– Flour is the main dry ingredient in the cookies.
  • kosher salt– Kosher salt is a course salt commonly used in cooking and baking. I prefer it over table salt.
  • baking soda– Baking soda helps the cookies rise during baking.
  • mini chocolate chips– Find mini chocolate chips near the regular chocolate chips in the baking isle.
  • Nutella, chocolate hazelnut spread– Nutella is generally sold near the peanut butter at the grocery store.

How To Make Nutella Cookies

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Place butter and sugars into a medium bowl and stir until well combined. Add beaten egg and vanilla stirring until well combined. Add flour, baking soda, salt. Stir until just combined. Stir in chocolate chips. Using a large cookie or ice cream scoop, place 1/2 of the dough onto center of baking sheet. Spread dough into a round and make a “well” in center for the Nutella. Place Nutella in center of dough and with remaining cookie dough press it into a round and top over Nutella and bottom cookie dough. Press edges to seal. Top with more chocolate chips and bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden around edges. Let cool for 10 minutes on baking sheet before removing. Serve room temperature or warm.

How Can I Make More Than Just One Giant Cookie?

If you want to make a bigger batch of Nutella cookies, use my Twinkie Stuffed Cookie Recipe and substitute a couple tablespoons of Nutella for each cookie instead of the Twinkie listed in the recipe.

I’m not sure I’ve seen anything more beautiful than this photo, lol! You’ll want to place half of your cookie dough onto the baking sheet and press, forming into a round, also making a little “well” for the Nutella to sit.

With remaining cookie dough, press into a flat round to place over Nutella. Seal edges nice and tight so Nutella is fully enclosed.

Add more mini chocolate chips if you’d like then bake at 350 degrees F. for 12-15 minutes. Edges will start to turn golden brown. Remove and let sit on cookie sheet for 20 minutes before serving.

How To Serve

Serve giant cookie whole or I prefer cutting cookie in half to show the stuffed Nutella. If you’re sharing consider cutting cookie into fourths.
