Ingredients For Keto Mug Bread
Here are the ingredients you’ll need to make low carb mug bread at home. See the recipe card located at the bottom of the page for full details and instructions.
- Salted Butter– Salted butter gives a little more flavor that unsalted, so I recommend using salted butter for this recipe.
- Super Fine Almond Flour– Find almond flour in most grocery stores baking section. If you have Sprouts, that’s where I find mine. Check Amazon as well.
- Baking Powder– find in the baking section of your grocery store.
- Kosher Salt
- Freshly Ground Black Pepper
- Large Egg– I use large eggs for all of my baking needs.
- Shredded Cheese– I like to use shredded cheddar cheese for my mug bread, but any variety will work great. Pepperjack would be amazing as well.
- Heavy Cream– Don’t substitute the cream, it gives richness and texture to the bread.
- Crumbled Bacon– I generally use the ready bacon that you can microwave quickly to crumble.
- Diced Green Chilies– If you are not a green chile fan, you can leave these out or even substitute with chopped jalapenos.
- Green Onion– Green onion gives color and great flavor to the mug bread, you can substitute with white onion if needed.
How To Make Keto Mug Bread Recipe
Melt Butter. Place butter into bottom of mug of choice and microwave until melted, about 30 seconds.
Add Remaining Ingredients To Mug. Add almond flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, egg, cheese, cream, bacon, green chilies and green onion.
Use Your Favorite Cheese Variety. Feel free to substitute your favorite variety of shredded cheese in this recipe. Pepperjack cheese is great, Provolone and even Gruyere.
Stir. Stir ingredients to combine.
Clean Edges of Mug. Once combined, use a damp paper towel to clean inside edges of mug.
Cook Mug Bread. Microwave for 2 minutes and 30-45 seconds.
Remove and Cool. Remove mug from microwave and let cool for 2 minutes before removing.
How Long Do You Cook Keto Bread?
Each recipe will be different, but for my Loaded Keto Mug Bread takes approximately 2 minutes, 45 seconds to cook.
Loosen Edges With Knife. Use a knife to loosen edges if needed.
Remove Bread From Mug. Carefully flip onto a cutting board. Depending on how small or large your mug is, your bread will vary in height and width.
Cut Bread. Use a sharp knife and gently cut bread in half. Enjoy plain, with butter or use as bread for a sandwich!
