I love a meal that is both easy & delicious! Easy doesn’t always equate to something that is scrumptios and requested over and overa gain, but when you find that perfect easy recipe that everybody loves – that is AWESOME!

  4. Briauna

I love it when I find a recipe that I can immediately make. I do love making things from scratch with complicated ingredients but, if I have all the ingredients right away those recipes are my favorite. I don’t have to wait to make a delicious meal.

  5. melissa

For me a good recipe has easy ingredients that i always have in my pantry. I hate starting something and realizing half way through that i don’t have a certain item.

  6. Stacy Whisler

  7. Stacy Whisler

i love to make a meal that i can make ahead in the crockpot..especially for those afternoons and evenings filled with school events and basketball or baseball games!

  8. Becky

A true winner in our house is basic ingredients that we would already have around the house or easily be found. We love to entertain so something what we could whip up fast, makes servings in the double digits, low cost, kid friendly, and of course be delicious.

  9. Karen D.

With 3 little ones, it has to be easy and fast, tasty, but at least somewhat healthy. A recipe my 3 year old can help out with is best. She loves to cook!

  10. Keri

I would love that cookbook! A winning recipe in my house is full of flavor, doesn’t call for a million ingredients, and makes leftovers that get fought over.

  11. A winning recipe at my house is yummy, quick, kid-pleasing, and requires easy to find ingredients. Chocolate doesn’t hurt either, lol! ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. A winning recipe in our house is one that reheats well. The husband takes the leftovers for work and if it tastes good the next day then its a winner!

  13. Anna

A winning recipe is one with lots of texture and flavor. Also, the best meals are the ones my kids pick out via the net or in magazines and actually prepare with me!

  14. Betty

Taste and appearance are definitely important…and then the ease of getting ingredients. I don’t mind buying special ingredients, however I want the final result to taste and look good!

  15. Cyndi

I don’t always plan ahead, so a great recipe would be one where the ingredients are on-hand so substitutions aren’t required and easy directions! I love making Pillsbury cinnamon rolls from crescent dough.

  16. Amy W

I love anything that’s quick and easy, but I also love a good homemade meal. I guess it all depends on the mood that I am in. =) I am a follower through google reader!

  17. Karla

In my house, award winning recipes are ones that have great nutritional information and are easy to make, since I am no professional chef/baker.

  18. I like recipes where I don’t have to make a trip to the store for the ingredients. I love to have a fast dinner where it is made with common items I stock in my house. I really don’t like recipes that take hours either, quick and easy, that’s me!

  19. A winninge recipe to me is either a) something I can dump in the crock pot, leave for a couple hours and then serve, or b)something that my husband likes (which is very few things; he is extremely picky!!)

  20. A winning recipe is one that has great flavor AND appearance. If the color combination or presentation is a winning one, there is more chance that people will want to try it. If it then tates awesome as well, you definitely have a winner!

  21. colleen bennion

it has to taste good. i always tend to go back to family favorite and switch them up a bit. good to have some varity.

  22. McKenzey

We love recipes like the last post… we have to have pictures of what it is going to look like.
It is also nice if it is quick or easy to make and healthy.

  23. I love to find recipes with a short list of ingredients. Sometimes a long list can scare me away. I also like convenient and ingredients I usually have on hand.

  24. Christie C

I just became a follower/subscribed. A winning recipe to me is one that my entire family will eat and the ingredients are not complicated. The recipe must be easy to prepare and hopefully something that we can eat leftovers from!

  25. It is definitely easy to find ingredients and ingredients I like and won’t have to substitute or leave out. If I can’t find it in the store, or I hate the spice or fruit, I usually will skip over the recipe.

  26. We love anything that deals with quick and easy! If I can get it all preped one more days in advance then toss it on the grill or in the oven for an easy dinner it’s a winner in our book!

  27. Joanna from Colorado

For us, it’s about ingredients that are easy to find and how long it takes to make.
It’s nice to have a recipe that has familiar ingredients that we usually have in the pantry, so I can make something that we love before everyone gets so hungry that they threaten to eat each other!

  28. I love easy recipes using fresh ingredients….also love a recipe that can easily morph into a different meal by adding a new ingredient or two.

  29. I’m always looking for new twists on things we love! I am a fan of reading and collecting recipes. I’m also trying hard to find things that my 4 year old will eat and love.

  30. A winning recipe in our house is one that the entire family can actually say they like it. Its hard to please everyone but when you get that look of omygoodness this is good from each and every memeber of you family, well you know its a winner then. Sometimes its just the simplist foods that work in our house. But it is definitly the homemade from scratch dishes they love the best.

  31. Steph H.

Easy and Nutrious…mostly anyway! A favorite is Chicken Pot Pie. Just steam up all the vaggies with some Cr. of Chicken and then top it with the Pillsbury Refrigerated Pie Crust. yummy, fast, simple, and get some veggies too!

  32. Trish

I know I have a winning recipe when I’m happy because at least half the ingedients were already in the house and my husband and 10 year old are fighting over who gets to have the left-overs for lunch the next day.

  33. Lindsay

Quick and easy! Right now I’m dealing with a very picky one year old, so anything she’ll eat (and my three year old) is all I need. My husbands great, and will eat anything!

  34. Cathy

A winning recipe for me is one that my husband would enjoy eating on a weekly basis. Anything with chicken, steak, chocolate and penut butter are always great (but not together ^_^)!

  35. If it tastes great that’s all the matters. I may get upset if it doesn’t look nice because I do try and photograph recipes for my blog, but tasting good is much more important in our house.

  36. Megan

A winning recipe for us has simple ingredients and doesn’t use the oven! We’re in the south and it’s far too hot to think about turning on the oven ๐Ÿ™‚

  37. If you ask my son, he would tell you that pesto needs to be in every recipe, my other son would say spaghetti, and my hubby would say meat – any kind. I like ingredients that my whole family will eat. Sometimes that is difficult.

  38. Dixie

For us, it’s homemade. My daughter loves to help in the process. I also like to make things that can do double duty – eat roasted chicken one night, use the leftover meat to make soup and a casserole or chicken tacos. That works for us!

  39. For me, it’s anything that I can get all my picky eaters to eat! ๐Ÿ™‚ If I am cooking during the week, it has to be a quick meal.

  40. Nina

My husband will eat anything so the way I determine if it is a winning recipe or if he is just hungry is by whether or not he requests the same meal again or by how fast the left overs disappear.

  41. Tracy

A winner in our home is something that is semi-homemade, but tastes completely homemade.
    Thanks for the great blog!!

  42. I am not so pigeon-holed in my cooking that I gravitate to labels like homemade, quick and easy, etc. I get pure enjoyment from reading cookbooks, the picture grabs me and I peruse the list of ingredients and then read over the process….when something clicks in me….I have to make it.
What makes a recipe ‘winning’ is when my “not-so-hot-about-leftovers” man asked excitedly the next night if we are having -recipe made- again… Now I know he LOVED it.

  43. Christy

A winning recipe to me is one that doesn’t require a lot of ingredients. Also, it’s good if those ingredients aren’t very expensive. Healthy recipes are always good because they motivate me to eat better, but of course my favorites are the desserts. ๐Ÿ™‚ You give me anything with chocolate and I’m in!!!

  44. Melissa Hodgen

Freshly baked bread fills the house with a heavenly aroma, but anything with honey is a hit in our home. From sandwiches to stir fry…it has a 100% satisfactory rate.

  45. maureen

In my family a recipe has to be a few things. One is that it must be easy. If there is a picture attached to it for the final show all the better. It also has to have good ingredients that are not hard to find.

  46. To me, a winning recipe is something that hopefully takes less than an hour to make and is healthy! Oh and it must be liked by the hubby! ๐Ÿ™‚

  47. I like recipes that are relatively simple to make (I do go for elaborate once in a while, but most often I don’t), use ingredients that I normally have on hand, and preferably do not contain any pre-made item (such as Bisquick, freezer rolls, etc).

  48. To me a winning recipe is one with inexpensive ingredients, preferably ones I have on hand, that looks delicious. A plus is if it’s comfort-food style – fattening! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  49. Jennifer

Winning recipes mean I can make them multiple times and they still turn out well. (Also, almost anything that has chocolate in it is a winning recipe by my standards!) I also love recipes my whole family will eat. I’ve got 3 very picky eaters at my house.

  50. What makes a recipe for our family is that it is a good balance of homemade but not to time consuming and has fresh ingredients, like fresh raw summer vegetables! Lots of bright natural colors gives us a thrill too! :o)

  51. shawna

Quick and easy and versatile…Mexie meat for tacos, burritos, nachos, etc. in the fridge and ready to grab!

  52. A winning recipe in our house is one that both my husband and I like. He’s a meat and veggies type person, and I’m a grains and fruit type person. It’s been a challenge to find recipes that compromise our tastes, but we’re doing pretty good.

  53. I would say easy meals are best..with the least amount of ingredients! Unless we are talking about dessert..then it doesn’t matter easy or hard we don’t care we just love sugar ๐Ÿ™‚

  54. With a 2 year old, a full time job, and a husband’s unpredictable schedule… it’s all about TIME at our house! And if it can be made ahead of time (or even better yet, mass made, and thrown into the freezer) it’s even better.

  55. Janell

If it’s a weeknight meal then it’s gotta be something easy with pantry staples. If it’s for a special occassion then a winning recipe has to look good ๐Ÿ™‚

  56. Katie

A winning recipe for me is something new and fun that I can impress my husband with! Sometimes easy, sometimes gourmet! I love trying new stuff!

  57. Mellisa W.

We love fancy sandwiches with lots of ingredients. Each member can choose to add or leave off ingredients and then we grill them.

  58. The thing that is a hit in our house is food that can be picked up, like chicken legs, they are a favorite and if you catch them on sale, a very cheap dinner.

  59. For me, a winning dish is something where I can find the ingredients in my local store and follow the recipe, or even tweak it a little, and it turns out great.

  60. I love something that’s quick and easy that the kids will like. I especially love it if I can assemble it ahead of time and bake it right before dinner or throw it in the crockpot.

  61. A “winning recipe” for my family is primarily just one that I can get everyone to eat! (My husband is SUPER picky!!!) An added bonus is when the recipe calls for ingredients that you typically have on hand and one that is quick to make and economical!

  62. Xina

Any recipe that catches my eye is one that I KNOW that the other 4 picky people in this house would LOVE! And it is a joyous occasion if the recipe is a ‘Keeper’! ๐Ÿ™‚

  63. A winning recipe is any recipe that has an EXTREME taste… “WOW that’s ____(fill in the blank)” Either really garlic-y, really sweet, really rich, really BBQ-ey, really tart, really fluffy, really moist, etc. Hope this makes sense ๐Ÿ™‚ hehe.
For me personally, anything that is sweet is a recipe for me. If it weren’t for me being health conscious, I would eat dessert for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner!
    Happy Baking,
    Mini Baker ๐Ÿ™‚

  64. A winning recipe for me is something that I can make at the last minute to please a crowd, which includes something that I can make from basic ingredients I always have in my pantry. It has to be homemade, but can use store-bought ingredients if that simplifies things!

  65. A winning recipe to me is one that is fool proof. I don’t consider myself a great cook so when there is a recipe I try and it actually turns out, it’s a keeper in my book!

  66. I usually look for recipes with lots of veggies or a lot of color. I think that’s is the best way to add good flavor, add colorful vegetables.

  67. A winning recipe in my home is one that my husband asks for over and over. So many of the recipes I make are soon forgotten, but the real “winners” are ones that we want to have again and again and really look forward to having!

  68. Annalie

Almost anything that is homemade is a winner in our house. The fresher the ingredients and the more “from scratch” something is, the better!

  69. Esther

A winning recipe in our house is one that my husband and 2 year old love. Quick and easy always helps, but it is always satisfying to put a delicious homemade meal on the table for our family.

  70. Maurine

I look for recipes with ingredients I already like and mostly homemade. I know it is a winner if everyone is fighting over the leftovers for lunch the next day.

  71. A winning recipe is one that makes your tastebuds remember the different flavor “pops” in your mouth. After 34 years of marriage – I try new recipes all the time, hopefully adding new “pops” to help keep our marriage exciting!

  72. I know a recipe is a “winner” in my house if my husband goes back for seconds. In the two and a half years we have been married, there have only been 2 dishes that I make that he loves enough to get more! Those winning dishes are on regular rotation in my weekly menus!

  73. kim

A winning recipe in my household is one that everyone will love and enjoy. A recipe that can put a smile on my family’s face, and a recipe that I can master with easy to find ingredients yet wow’s a crowd. Good Luck to everyone!

  74. I usually look for either chicken, pork chops, or ground beef recipes. We’re also big on potatoes and cabbage. I prefer recipes that I can cook with my 4 year old, and are easy to prepare and clean up. I mostly prefer homemade and semi-homemade.
