- They’re a great conversation piece.
- They cook up super fast, so they take just minutes to make each taco.
What You’ll Need
Here are the ingredients you’ll need to make cheeseburger tacos. Simple and easy to find! See the recipe card located at the bottom of this post for full details.
- Lean Ground Beef– I like to use 85% lean ground beef for my recipes.
- Salt and Pepper– Salt and pepper will season the ground beef for the tacos.
- Mayonnaise– Mayonnaise is used to make the special sauce that gets topped on the tacos.
- Ketchup and Mustard- Ketchup and mustard are added to the special sauce.
- Dill Pickle Relish– The relish is also added to the special sauce.
- Hot Sauce– Hot sauce gives the special sauce a little kick.
- White Corn Tortillas– I prefer the white corn tortillas for my tacos. Corn and flour tortillas work just fine as well.
- Cheddar Cheese Slices– You’ll add a slice of cheddar cheese to each taco that gets melted at the end of cooking.
- Shredded Iceburg Lettuce– Each taco gets topped with a handful of shredded iceburg lettuce.
- Dill Pickle Slices– I like adding a few dill pickle slices to the top of each taco along with the special sauce.
How To Make Smashburger Tacos Recipe
- Prepare Special Sauce. Place mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, dill pickle relish and hot sauce into a small mixing bowl. Stir until well combined. Set aside until ready to garnish tacos.
2. Season Beef. Season ground beef with salt and pepper in a large mixing bowl. Stir to combine then divide evenly into fourths.
3. Cook Smashburger Tacos. Place one burger mound into a hot skillet over medium heat. Press flat with a spatula then add a tortilla to the top and continue to press flat as it cooks. This takes 3-4 minutes to brown the beef.
4. Flip Tacos and Add Cheese. When beef is cooked through flip, add a slice of cheese and cover with lid for a few minutes until cheese is melted.
5. Add Toppings. Top each taco with lettuce, special sauce and pickles. Serve hot.
Recipe Tips For Success
- Use a nice lean ground beef for the tacos. Less fat drippings in the pan while cooking makes it much easier.
- If you have flat griddle, that is ideal to cook all of the tacos at one time. I used a hot skillet which works just fine too. Each taco gets cooked separately.
- If cooking tacos separately, keep the oven on warm and place the cooked tacos on a baking sheet in a warm oven until they’re all done cooking. When ready, garnish all and serve together.
How To Serve
Serve Smashburger Tacos garnished with lettuce, special sauce and sliced pickles. They’re great for any weeknight dinner and weekend entertaining. Have some extra napkins available, these are messy and delicious!
