Whip up a batch of my Healthier Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies, you’ll be glad you did!

Healthier Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies-12t

The term “healthier” has different definitions to different people, agreed?

I substituted coconut oil for butter and used Gold Medal Flour’s white whole wheat flour therefore I am calling these my “healthier” cookie :)  If you were to ask the trainers on Biggest Loser, I am sure they would disagree with me, because there is still sugar and chocolate included, lol!  Baby steps.

Healthier Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies-1

Grab some coconut oil and add it into a bowl.

Healthier Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies-2

Add your sugars.

Healthier Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies-3

One egg please :)

Healthier Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies-4

Add-in the pure vanilla extract and give a good mix.

Once you’ve mixed the ingredients.  Add in Gold Medal Flour’s white whole wheat flour.  White whole wheat has the same nutritional value as regular whole wheat but is better for baking due to it’s taste.

Time for the chocolate!  I used semi-sweet.

My favorite part :)  Gimmie that dough!

Healthier Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies-8

Scoop your dough onto your favorite baking sheet.

I love the texture that the coconut oil gives these cookies.  You still get the crispy buttery-like edges with soft centers.  Enjoy!!

Oh my goodness!!! I just made these, and they are fantastic! My husband and 2 1/2 year old daughter keep asking for more…guess I should have waited until AFTER dinner to make them! :-) My only regret is that they are so good, I can’t guarantee I’ll do well with portion control! Thanks for sharing these. I just found your site, so I can’t wait to try more of your yummy recipes!

    Alison says:

Can I use extra virgin coconut oil?

    • 36.1
      Jenny says:

Extra virgin works also. If you’re wondering, research has shown that there isn’t a difference between “extra virgin” and “virgin” for coconuts. We do buy coconut oil designated “raw”. :)
