Coconut Oil Chocolate Chip Cookies

The term “healthier” has different definitions to different people, agreed?  I substituted coconut oil for butter and used white whole wheat flour therefore I am calling these my “healthier” cookie 🙂

  3. Add flour, baking soda, salt and chocolate chips, stirring until dough forms.

Add-in the pure vanilla extract and give a good mix.

Once you’ve mixed the ingredients. Add in Gold Medal Flour’s white whole wheat flour. White whole wheat has the same nutritional value as regular whole wheat but is better for baking due to it’s taste.

I love the texture that the coconut oil gives these cookies. You still get the crispy buttery-like edges with soft centers. Enjoy!!

I have made probably a dozen batches of these and they’re AMAZING! I was curious if you’ve ever added other ingredients – like peanut butter, cocoa powder for double fudge? I wanted to branch out but keep it healthy like these ones! This recipie has seriously changed me! Thank you!

LOVE this recipe with a few modifications (olive oil instead of coconut oil, 1/2 cup of brown sugar without granulated sugar, and addition of 1 TBSP each of flax seed and chia seeds. It’s fast and super easy to mix up when you need a chocolate fix. I only get 15 cookies when I use my medium sized cookie scoop. I have no idea how you get 2 dozen cookies from this recipe (unless they are biet size).

Turned out great! Added a few white chocolates through and reduced caster sugar slightly as well. So moist and delicious!

Is the quantity right for chocolate chips? I doubled these and still found a cup and quarter to be sufficient and on the heavy end for the chips. Pretty much all sugar and oil between chips and sugars. Its a great base recipe but if anyone wants a lower sugar option, I used Just 1/2 cup coconut sugar and half the amount of chips and it was still super yummy and very sweet!

could the granulated sugar be left out without affecting the final product too much? we have cut granulated sugar from our kitchen. should we sub with honey/syrup, or do you think it could be left out altogether? thanks! they sound delicious!

I have made these twice and both times I’ve added a couple extra tablespoons of coconut oil because it mixes up dry. Am I the only one?

Just made a batch. Used 2 tbsp butter and rest coconut oil. I grind my own flour so that adds some nutrition. We devoured them. My kids loved helping from start to finish including clean-up. Thanks for a great cookie recipe the whole family loved.
