What You’ll Need
Here are the ingredients you’ll need to make chocolate peanut butter bars at home. See the recipe card located at the bottom of the post for full details.
- Salted Butter– For my cooking and baking I generally use salted butter. Unsalted works just fine if needed.
- Light Brown Sugar– Light brown sugar gives sweetness to the bars.
- Powdered Sugar- Also referred to as confectioners sugar. This also adds sweetness to the bars.
- Creamy Peanut Butter– Creamy peanut butter works great here, but if you want crunchy peanut butter, that works too.
- Ghirardelli Chocolate Wafers– Check for the bag of wafers in the baking section of the grocery store near the other melting chocolates and chocolate chips.
How To Make No Bake Peanut Butter Bars
Line Baking Dish With Parchment Paper. Line parchment paper into an 8 x 8 inch baking dish.
Prepare Peanut Butter Layer. Place butter, brown sugar and powdered sugar into a large mixing bowl. Mix until butter is incorporated into sugar and powdered sugar. It will not be creamy so no need to over mix. Stir in peanut butter and mix until dough forms. Dough will be stiff, mix until ingredients are combined.
Press Dough Into Baking Dish. Press dough into prepared baking dish and either freeze for 30 minutes or refrigerate for a couple hours before adding melted chocolate.
Remove Bars From Baking Dish. When dough is firm, lift parchment sides out of pan and onto a counter top.
Melt Chocolate. Place chocolate melts into a microwave safe bowl and heat until melted and smooth. Spread melted chocolate evenly over peanut butter bars.
Spread Chocolate Over Bars. Chocolate will set up quickly because peanut butter is cold. Work quickly as you spread chocolate.
Cut Bars Into Squares. Use a knife to cut into squares. Serve bars chilled.
Is There A Keto Version I Can Make?
Yes! Substitute the brown sugar with the Lakanta Monkfruit with Erythritol, Golden and use the Lakanta or Swerve powdered sugar instead of regular powdered sugar. Make sure you use a natural creamy peanut butter and use a sugar free dark chocolate chip to melt for the top. Lily’s or Choc Zero are my favorites. Use the same instructions with these substitutes for a keto friendly peanut butter bar.
How To Serve No Bake Peanut Butter Bars
Serve no bake bars chilled for best results for any occasion where dessert is welcome. Be sure to check that there are no peanut allergies if taking to a party.
