I bought a sil-pat for my sister for Christmas, but I don’t have one!
If I had the time today, I’d make my grandmother’s chocolate cake. Known in my family as Grammy’s Chocolate Cake, it’s an amazingly dark, dense cake. My grammy would sweeten it by using actual fudge as the icing. My mom made a delicious homemade buttercream for it. I have an easier buttercream knockoff, but as long as I’m imagining that I have the time to bake the cake, I might as well take the imagined time to make the real buttercream, too! Delicious. There’s no cake out there like it.
(Grammy passed away in April and I’ve been thinking of her cake ever since.)
