White Chocolate Fluffernutter Gooey Bars

Ahhh, summer is officially here which means more fun time to cook with the kids. My Gooey cake bars are so simple (not to mention ridiculously delish) and the kids absolutely love to get their hands dirty to help with this one.

My favorite part about these bars is the gooey fluffernutter topping, its almost caramel like consistency which makes for a perfect gooey treat. They travel well so they’re perfect for bake sales, family picnics and parties.

Whatcha waiting for, get baking! PS, if you can even believe it my kids are still in school! …no pics of them helping me until after this week, lol!

I made these last night and they were a HIT at our house! My dd (11) who doesn’t like sweet treats asked for seconds. 6 out of 6 LOVED them!! Thank you! I didn’t have a cake mix on hand (unusual for me…) so I used my go-to recipe for a yellow cake mix:
2 cups cake flour (I have used all purpose flour and it has worked)
    2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 1/4 cups sugar
1/2 cup vegetable shortening (I only use Crisco)

Thank you for a new favorite dessert for my family!! 🙂

I made these last night. The recipe was perfect and they are so, so good! I cut off the edges before making pretty squares, and am enjoying the crusts with my morning coffee.

I have these in the oven right now… I didn’t have any white chocolate chips so I substituted peanut butter chips… I hope they turn out okay.

These were a big hit in our house! My 9 y.o. suggested that next time, we should use a chocolate cake mix and substitute Nutella for the peanut butter and see how it tastes! I think he is on to something!

Made these twice to take to 2 BBQs over 4th of July weekend and they were amazing! Your instructions were perfect and they came out looking exactly like your pics. A huge hit with young and old alike! Thank you thank you thank you!!!

I made these the other day and, although tasty, they did not set up well at all. I also ended up with twice as much as the recipe said I would. I am not sure if I did something wrong or if the recipe just didn’t work as planned. I’ll try again though, but maybe with a shortbread crust instead of the cake.

I am planning on making these for a BBQ on Sunday. How far in advance is it safe to make them? I was planning on doing them tonight, since I have time and I’m baking something else for tomorrow night. If I keep them air tight in the fridge uncut, will they be okay for Sunday? They need to travel in the car about two hours as well. Thanks!

Hi Jenny – I made these last weekend for a BBQ and they were a HUGE hit! Needless to say, you have many new fans 🙂 Thanks for the great recipe.

  11. Pedey @ Do You Smell That

Made these last night – fantastic. I didn’t realize the PB/mallow mixture would stay so soft, so they were a little messier than I anticipated, but they were still delicious! Shared them with 2 different neighbors and got thumbs up all around!

  12. Lindsay

Yum! I just made these with a few changes. I halved the recipe in a square pan (still used 1 egg). I used chocolate cake mix and chocolate chips because that’s what I had on hand. I think next time it would be good to add some PB chips, too. Thanks for the great recipe!

The recipe calls for unsalted, but I think the butter shown is salted? Yes, no? Will it change the consistency or just taste?

  18. Tamara Bennett

Just got back from walmart, picked up the things i need. I’m resisting the urge to make these RIGHT NOW. LOL. I’m going to make them for a family reunion tomorrow.
