What You’ll Need For Lil Smokies Pigs In A Blanket
- Lit’l Smokies– Find the Lit’l Smokies in the refrigerated section near the lunch meat area.
- fresh or jarred jalapenos– The jalapenos can be optional, but a fun little spicy addition.
- grated parmesan cheese– Kraft grated Parmesan Cheese works great here.
- crescent rolls– Find the Pillsbury Crescent Rolls in the refrigerated section usually near the cookie dough.
How To Make Pigs in a Blanket
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unroll crescent rolls onto parchment paper lined countertop area. Carefully use a pizza cutter or knife to cut each crescent roll into 3 even triangles. Using a paper towel, dry the lit’l smokies and jalapenos.
- Place lit’l smokies on top of widest end of each piece of crescent dough. Top smokies with a jalapeno and carefully roll smokies and jalapeno in dough until you reach the smallest end of triangle gently pressing ends to seal. Take each rolled smokie and roll in a small bowl of grated parmesan until well coated. Transfer to prepared lined baking pan. Continue until all pigs in a blanket have been rolled. Place about 1 inch apart from each other on pan and bake for 18-22 minutes, until golden on top and baked through. Remove from oven and serve hot with dipping sauces of your choice.
Can I Use Hot Dogs Instead of Lit’l Smokies?
Yes, if you’d like to cut hot dogs into 1 inch pieces, you can absolutely substitute them for the lit’l smokies. I like the extra flavor that the lit’l smokies bring, but hot dogs are just fine too.
What Does Pigs in a Blanket Mean?
Kind of a funny little recipe name isn’t it? “Pigs in a blanket” is basically a small hot dog or other sausage wrapped in pastry commonly served as an appetizer in the United States.
Can I Leave Out The Jalapeños?
If you have guests sensitive to heat, there’s no need to add the jalapeños. You can always prepare half with the jalapeños and half without.
Crescent Roll Pigs in a Blanket
Roll each piece in grated Parmesan Cheese before baking. Gives another layer of flavor you don’t wan to skip.
Bake at 350 degrees F. for 18-22 minutes, until nice and golden on top.
What Dipping Sauces Should I Use?
I like to have a few options of dipping sauces for my guests such as mustard, ketchup and a warm cheese sauce. Honestly, they’re delicious without dipping sauces too.

Looks great but some people hate the aftertaste of those crescent rolls! I would like to use puff pastry instead, special directions? Thanks so much.
