What You’ll Need

Here are the ingredients you’ll need to make this refrigerated biscuit recipe at home. See the recipe card located at the bottom of the post for full details.

  • Butter– I use salted butter for my recipes, unsalted works just fine too.
  • Refrigerated Biscuit Dough– Find refrigerated biscuit dough in the refrigerated section of the grocery store near the pre-made cookie dough. Pillsbury is a brand that makes both.
  • Fresh Mozzarella– Fresh mozzarella is delicious in the recipe, find it near the cheese section of the grocery store.
  • Cooked Crumbled Bacon– You can use ready bacon that you can microwave or you can brown your own bacon. Let it cool and crumble the bacon.
  • Shredded Cheese– I like to use mild cheddar, use your favorite cheddar cheese.

Recipe Tips For Success

Use Good Cheeses. Fresh mozzarella cheese adds a delicious flavor to the biscuits. If you can find fresh mozzarella, it makes a great addition.

Use A Cast Iron Skillet. I love using a cast iron skillet for making this biscuit recipe. It adds a nice crisp to the bottom and looks great when serving.

Well maybe it was my oven but this recipe did not work very well. After 20 minutes, the biscuits were still mostly dough except around the very edges. I had to increase the temp to 400 and then bake for an additional 15 minutes to get them done in the middle. Then the whole thing was burned around the edge. We ate the middle and that we pretty good. I have no idea what happened but I think if I try this again, I’ll bake the biscuits a bit befor adding the cheese. It seems the biscuits were almost insulated by the cheese and couldn’t get done. Great flavors, though.

This is an incredible and easy dish. I really enjoyed it. I had a can of Grands Jrs. so I used that. Made a side of scrambled eggs and my breakfast was complete. Will definitely make this again

These were absolutely, crazy delicious. I substituted 4 Bob Evans Sausages for the bacon. My Dad and Husband ate 1/2 the pan.

Thanks for posting this great recipe.

Read the ingredient list on the label. Simply Buttermilk biscuits are NOT trans fat free…they contain hydrogenated oil…that is a trans fat. They don’t have to list trans fats if they are a small amount…so they just reduce the serving size. Don’t be fooled.

How would you do the eggs? scramble 1st or pour them onto the bacon and then cheese? That would make a easy breakfast for school mornings.

These look great! I’m going to try making them with pepperoni pieces instead of bacon, though, just for a switch up. Thanks for the idear!

Silly question but I’m gonna ask anyway…do I HAVE to use a cast iron skillet or is there something else that I can use?

    Thanks!

I made these because what is better than biscuits, bacon and cheese? They were very good! I topped half of them with some chives just for a little more tastiness.

Just have to say I’ve made these twice already. The first with croissants and this last time with the Rustic french bread from Pillsbury. We also used breakfast sausage. Ooo-la-la, these are our new favorite dishes.

Sound great! I made a Creme Brulee French Toast Casserole with Drunken Strawberries this morning for my blog post. It was delish…but now I could go for this…more savory, salty (bacon) flavored treat! yumm!

Jenny, these look amazing! I think my Bible study girls would love these – do they need to be eaten immedietaly? Also curious if you think this recipe could be made in a bunt pan like monkey bread? Love your site. 🙂

Again, these looks awesome! I just posted a quick healthy cheese stuff breakfast sandwich with real cheese/bacon on my blog a few days ago, (we are TRYING to be healthy and lose a few lbs since my cooking has totally caused some weight gain as of late) and then I see this. I could totally eat like five of these right now.

Hi, love your site! thank you! Question, would bacon bits from a jar (like the ones for salads) would work here?
