What You’ll Need
Here are the ingredients you’ll need to make chocolate krispie treats at home. See the recipe card located at the bottom of the post for full details.
- Rice Krispie Cereal– For best results use Kelloggs brand cereal. It’s the crispiest and best tasting.
- Mini Marshmallows– Find mini marshmallows in the baking section of the grocery store.
- Butter– I use salted butter for my cooking and baking. Unsalted works just fine too.
- Chocolate Chips– Use your favorite variety of chocolate chips. Milk, or semi-sweet are best.
- Toffee Chips– Some grocery stores will sell toffee chips near the chocolate chips. If you can’t find them, you can crush some Heath Bars for the same result.
- Chocolate Sauce– I use Hershey chocolate sauce for my recipe.

How To Make Rice Krispie Treats
Melt Marshmallows. Place marshmallows and butter into a large heat proof bowl. Microwave until melted and puffed up, about 1 minute 30 seconds (will be different in all microwaves, watch through the glass.)

Add Chocolate Sauce and Cereal. Remove bowl and add Hershey’s Simply 5 Syrup and cereal. Stir to combine.

Stir In Chocolate Chips and Toffee. Gently stir in chocolate chips and toffee pieces, working quickly.

Press Into Baking dish. Transfer to a parchment lined 9 x 13 inch baking dish, pressing evenly.
Cool and Serve. Let cool completely before cutting into squares. Serve room temperature.

Tips For Toffee Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats
- Have all of your ingredients measured out in advance.
- Grease your mixing spoon so ingredients don’t stick while stirring. This is a lifesaver.
- Once your marshmallows have been combined with the cereal mixture, work quick to transfer to baking sheet. When marshmallows set up, it gets more difficult to stir and transfer.

How To Serve
Serve these marshmallow treats room temperature, cut into squares for your next party. They’re great for really any occasion.
Leftovers
Save any leftover treats in an airtight container room temperature for up to 3 days.
