What You’ll Need
Here are the ingredients you need to make buffalo chicken sliders at home. See the recipe card and video located at the bottom of the post for full instructions.
- Frozen Chicken Tenders– Check the frozen section of your grocery store for crispy chicken tenders/strips. Perdue brand is great.
- Hawaiian Sweet Rolls– Use the 24 count rolls. I used 20 of the rolls, but 24 works great too.
- Provolone Cheese Slices– Provolone was fantastic. You can use Swiss or your favorite cheese variety.
- Buffalo Sauce– Primal Kitchen brand is our favorite, but Franks Red Hot works too.
- Ranch Dressing– Ranch dressing and the buffalo sauce are drizzled over the chicken tenders.
- Garlic Spread/Butter– If you can find garlic spread in the baker section of the grocery store, it works fantastic over the rolls. Melted butter and minced garlic works fine too.
- Fresh Cilantro– Chopped fresh cilantro sprinkled on top of the rolls after they’ve baked add some freshness and color. Completely optional.
How To Make Buffalo Chicken Sliders
Preheat Oven To 350 Degrees F.
Cut Rolls In Half. Remove rolls from packaging and use a long serrated knife to carefully cut the tops off of rolls so you have one top half and one bottom half.
Cook Chicken Tenders. I like to use an air fryer to cook my chicken tenders. Cook them at 400 degrees F. for 15 minutes, shaking half way through cooking.
Place Bottom Half of Rolls On Baking Sheet. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and lay bottom half of rolls in the center.
Layer With Cheese. Layer bottom half of rolls with 9 slices of provolone cheese.
Add Cooked Chicken Tenders. Place cooked chicken tenders on top of cheese layer in a single layer.
Drizzle With Buffalo Sauce. Slowly pour buffalo sauce over chicken tenders. Just a little on each chicken tender.
Drizzle With Ranch Dressing. Slowly pour Ranch dressing over chicken tenders. Just a little on each tender.
Top With Cheese. Top chicken tenders with more cheese. I used 9 slices on top and bottom of rolls.
Add Top Half of Rolls. Carefully lay the top half of rolls on top of the cheese layer.
Brush Tops of Rolls With Garlic Butter. I use a garlic spread that I get in the bakery section of my grocery store. Melt it for 12 seconds in the microwave then brush it generously on the tops of the rolls.
Bake. Bake rolls at 350 degrees F. for 15 to 20 minutes.
Top With Chopped Fresh Cilantro. Sprinkle tops of rolls with chopped fresh cilantro if you’d like.
Serve With Dipping Sauce. I serve the sliders with a little bowl of Ranch dressing and buffalo sauce for dipping.
Recipe Questions and Answers
Are There Substitutions For The Chicken Tenders?
You can use shredded chicken breast or even cooked crispy chicken nuggets if you’d like in place of the tenders. Chicken tenderloins are another good option for a non breaded option.
What If I Don’t Like Buffalo Sauce? Is There Another Sauce That Would Work?
Try just drizzling just the Ranch dressing over the chicken tenders if you don’t love buffalo sauce. You can also add barbecue sauce as a good substitute which is also delicious with the Ranch dressing. Prepared salsa is another idea in place of the buffalo sauce.
What Other Cheeses Would Work For The Sliders?
I think Swiss Cheese, mozzarella cheese, pepperjack and even cheddar cheese would work great in place of the provolone.
I Don’t Like Cilantro, Is It Needed In The Recipe?
No, if you don’t like cilantro, you don’t have to add it to the top of the baked sliders. You can try chopped fresh parsley or just leave it out altogether 🙂 It’s mostly just a garnish.
How To Serve
Serve these buffalo chicken sliders warm with a side of Ranch dressing drizzled with buffalo sauce.
Leftovers
Store leftover sliders in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For best results reheat sliders in the air fryer at 350 degrees F. for 2-3 minutes.
