What You’ll Need

Here are the ingredients you’ll need to make easy breadsticks at home. See the recipe card located at the bottom of the post for full details.

  • Cooked Shredded Chicken Breast– I like to use a rotisserie chicken that I de-bone and shred for the recipe.
  • Taco Seasoning– any of your favorite taco seasoning is great.
  • Prepared Pizza Dough– I used the Pillsbury pizza crust for this recipe, but have also used Trader Joe’s pizza dough too.
  • Shredded Cheddar Cheese– Mild shredded cheddar is what I generally use, but again, any variety is great.
  • Sour Cream– Any brand of sour cream works great.

Tips For Rolling Out Pizza Dough

If dough is cold, let it sit room temperature for 20 minutes to help dough roll easier. If using a rolling pin, start from center of dough and work your way to the edges. Keep rolling until you get the shape you desire.

How to Make The Best Breadsticks

Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheet. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare Taco Chicken Filling. Place chicken and 1 teaspoon Old El Paso Taco Seasoning into a medium mixing bowl, stir to combine. Press your pizza dough into a rectangle filling most of the space on your baking sheet.

Add Chicken And Cheese To Half of Dough. Top half of dough with cheese then evenly place shredded chicken mixture over cheese. Top with additional cheese.

Bake. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until cooked through. Remove and let cool for 5 minutes before separating into breadsticks. Place sour cream and 1 teaspoon taco seasoning into a small bowl, stir to combine and use for dipping.

Recipe Tips For Success

  • Let Dough Get To Room Temp. To roll dough easily, let dough come to room temperature first. When it’s cold right out of the refrigerator it’s more difficult.
  • Rotisserie Chicken. For a quick fix option, use shredded rotisserie chicken or even canned chicken.

How To Serve Chicken Breadsticks

Mix up a little sour cream and taco seasoning, separate your warm breadsticks and you are ready to enjoy!  Amazing that with just a few ingredients, you get these flavor packed breadsticks. So simple too! Enjoy.

How To Store Leftovers

Store any leftover breadsticks in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating Instructions

To re-heat breadsticks place them in a preheated oven at 350 degrees F. for 10-12 minutes or until hot. You can also place breadsticks in an air fryer basket at 350 degrees F. for 3-5 minutes until hot.

I made these this weekend! My husband loved them! The only thing we would change is a little more seasoning, as we love really spicy things. I tagged you when I posted my pictures. Thank you for another yummy recipe! I have been making (and modifying) your creations for a few years now.
